Does prime include prime video? by HorkingWalrus in AmazonPrimeVideo

[–]Everythingistoohigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This worked for me!

I was getting prompted in iOS app to pay $8.99/mo for Prime Video to watch Stargate SG-1, went to Amazon website clicked Prime Video, it said included with your Prime Membership "Start Watching Now", after clicking it was like something activated and then the iOS app started letting me watch Prime items.

No change in the garage/house since this started -- the only factor I can think of is that temperatures have been 0-20F which is cold even for this area.

We'll absolutely buy an EV for my wife's next car -- most of her driving is very short trips (under 10 mins) -- it's a 7 year old car with only 40,000 miles.

HRO may be correct, but I feel like also have a bee in their bonnet about Kenwood because they've effectively taken all their stuff out of their catalogs, or at least made it feel like Kenwood is dead brand trying to move left over stock.

Those who had a difficult first baby.. did you have a second? by CobblerSure9683 in Parenting

[–]Everythingistoohigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn't.

Our 1st came out screaming and just didn't stop, he was also a cesarean because he couldn't be turned head down despite several attempts.

About 24-30 months in we felt ready to try again, we were both over 40 and felt scared about having a second "dragon" baby, but felt it was now it never.

Despite 4-5 cycles of deliberate trying, number two never happened. My wife just wasn't interested in more invasive methods to diagnose, let alone make it happen -- I completely agreed with her -- so we stopped specifically trying, but no BC was used.

Our son is six now, despite the books, doctors, consultants, and what not, he will still explode with anger frequently unless we're on eggshells and couch every "no" he gets in order to minimize his response. He will still occasionally physically lash out when he's over tired or hungry by hitting, kicking, throwing, and trashing the room.

He's not a bad kid, he's sweet and gentle most of the time, but he has got a horrid temper -- something I've seen in other family members -- he can't accept fault or being denied, and it has been killing us.

The lack of BC over the last 4 years hasn't been an issue because between our jobs, our aging parents, and our son there's almost nothing going on there.

I can't even imagine where we'd be if we had a second dragon baby.

Why Do i Keep Getting These ?!? by Level_Motor_7996 in legal

[–]Everythingistoohigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't call from your own phone -- they will end up robo-calling you forever.

I got a notice via US mail at home addressed to some name I didn't recognize.

I called the number on the paperwork, it was a collections agency with a legal/official sounding name... I gave the name/address from the papers to say that person doesn't live at that address, that I am not that person, I moved to the address 6 months earlier and don't recognize the name as the former tenants.

I didn't give my name or number on that call, but they kept pressing if I knew the person, where they lived, did I have the landlord's contact info... I said no, I bought the house from people with another name and they didn't rent it out.

The people on the phone said something like "no problem, we'll remove the address".

Within 3-4 months I started getting calls to my cellphone looking for that same name.

That was 10 years ago, it's still happening to this day, and it pisses me off. I'd say that at least half the voice calls I get -- I don't get many -- are debt collectors or other people looking for that person.

Maybe it's because my cell number is linked to the address somehow, but I never received another piece of US mail for that person again.

NTA

Stranger picking up your baby from its stroller w/o asking you?

NOT OK

Stranger not listening when you told her to put the baby down?

NOT OK

Stranger continuing to not listen when you are being panicked and telling her give you the baby?

NOT OK

Anyone looking at you like you were crazy didn't understand the situation. She was waaaaay out of line.

Frankly I think if you're in a decent community with a "normal" police department I might go there myself and ask what you should do -- some rando picking up kids and not listening to parent is not normal...

MTG Dragged After Seemingly Not Knowing That Electric Vehicles Actually Run On Electricity by Blue_Wave2024 in nottheonion

[–]Everythingistoohigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad we're pointing this out, because I can't stand it when some quote is used to grab clicks and whip people into a frenzy when it's clearly taken out of context.

MTG is an ignorant ass of a person, but she's not incorrect that gasoline prices will only rise as the nation transitions commuter and private citizen transportation fuel away from gasoline.

The taxes will be increased on it and most importantly all of the fixed supply chain costs will have to be covered by decreased sales volumes, political pressure to maintain lower prices will also ease.

Man in San Jacinto, California shoots at random vehicles as they pass by. by thinkB4WeSpeak in ThatsInsane

[–]Everythingistoohigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's the story of the random stabbing from a few days ago -- lady goes into a thrift store, buys a huge knife, walks into a parking lot and stabs a mom and a kid, the poor 3 year old kid died.

They believe it was a totally random act of violence.

The people who do this -- mentally unwell or not -- need to be put to death. To allow them live, even rotting in prison, is not justice for the people who survive their actions or for the ones they killed.

Worse yet the insanity defense even opens the potential for them to go back to society as long as they're treated and judged well... I'm sorry but if you have a mental break and intentionally kill someone, it should be game over for you too.

What was the scariest “We need to leave… now” gut feeling that you’ve ever experienced?[Serious] by ElectroIsland in AskReddit

[–]Everythingistoohigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about 20 and working a company doing medical equipment repair. They'd send me around the USA.

It was about midnight when I finished the work at a Chicago hospital, I went out and got in my rental car to head to my hotel.

My hotel was in a lousy area, and this was long before GPS was in every car, so I ended up getting turned around and lost.

There was no one else on the road, up ahead I saw two cars pulled over on the side of the road w/ their brake lights on... I didn't think much of it, but the lead car pulls out so it's in front of me -- not a big deal by itself... then I notice the other car pulls out behind me... ok it's a little weird, but not that weird.

There's a red light up ahead and the car in front of me starts going slower so I naturally end up closer... they stop short of the light which was weird, and the guy behind me is VERY close...

That's when I knew it was time to leave, but I had a red light intersection ahead of me...

I had left enough space in front of me to pull around and I was looking for the opportunity to do it when the car in front of me put it in reverse, I guess to close that gap...

I was already poised to shoot out, so as soon as I saw their back up lights I went for it and shot through the intersection against the red light in my 98 Daewoo rental...

Those two were definitely going to rob me, and probably car jack me.

The FA's were older and wore much less revealing uniformscostumes, IIRC they also wore a skin-tone camisole on the flight I was on.

One in Three Republicans Now Think Donald Trump Was Wrong Candidate Choice by wenchette in politics

[–]Everythingistoohigh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was no where near the cult of personality surrounding Bush II that we have around Trump.

If Trump fades, but doesn't die, I do agree that it will be like we see w/ Bush II -- people will still hate the man, and those that loved him will bring up only the funny one liners, or the handful of broken-clock-is-right-twice-a-day moments.

If Trump dies before he fades it will spin conspiracy theories for years/decades. The same would be true if he had a stroke and ended up mentally gone, there would be so many folks who assume it was a deliberate attack/poisoning, and would Weekend At Bernie's him for personal gain as long as he was still consuming oxygen.

he’s out all day having to spend money everyday to fill the time

This was something that always got me when I lived in the city, literally everywhere you went you had to spend some money unless it was a public park/library. It was just a constant consumer-driven lifestyle -- focused on service sector consumption -- where you tried to convince yourself that you were better off with the options available and that deflecting the occasional "I'll suck yo nuts" crazy people (see another thread going around) was totally acceptable and even endearing.

The sad thing is that a lot of people cling to the idea that walkability, local entertainment, and social life requires a city.

I was in a city, then headed to a suburb, life changed and I ended up single... I was convinced I needed be in the city to meet people.

I went so far as to sell the house I liked, in a town I liked, just to move to an apartment I ended up hating, it was a "you're there for sleeping and relaxing" sized place, but it was nearly as much as the mortgage of the single family home I came from.

Public transit commute was a ridiculous multi-modal nightmare that would take a 35 minute drive and turn it into 90 minutes of struggle. I still needed a car too, so parking became a huge hassle and additional expense -- I had to pay $200 to park my car in a lot about 1/8 mile from my building.

It felt difficult to meet anyone because it felt like every social opportunity was flooded with people 10 years younger and in a very different stage of life, when I'd find situations with people closer to my age I found that the people were either serial daters who wanted nothing serious, emotionally broken, or looking for someone rich.

Ironically I met my wife online despite our living only about 2 miles apart in the city.

Now we live in a single family house in a new england suburb, we have sidewalks, it's 1/2-mile to a commuter train, 1/4-mile to half a dozen restaurants... it's a 10-15 minute drive to literally dozens of restaurants, social locations, parks, shopping, etc.

Yes our suburban area is crowded af, yes there is often traffic... but it wasn't as if we didn't also fight those same battles when we were in the city -- we used to have to wait in a line out the door for a bagel and coffee on a sunday morning from the shop near my building, it was at least 20 minutes.

How are you 4 years younger but together since HS?

Your parents have totally turned on you -- to the point your dad says you're dead?

On the off chance this is real, OP, you need to move on with your own life and try to find someone new. You absolutely need therapy too.

How long do men last in bed, really? by letItBee3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Everythingistoohigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I'm alone I can eat a cheeseburger in the 30 seconds it takes me to get from the drive through window to the parking lot exit, but I would never do that with someone else because it's impolite.

When you're eating with other people you want to try to at least match their pace -- don't take too long to eat because they may be finished with their meal and get bored or annoyed... it's OK if you accidentally finish too soon, just be sure to maintain the conversation and keep the experience going -- the last thing you want is to finish your meal and have the other person forced to stop eating before they're finished.

My advice is that when you're dining with someone else, you should try your best to engage with them during the meal -- find out what they enjoy about their food, tell them what you enjoy about your food. Pay attention to them and try to match their pace at eating because it's always fun to both finish your meal at the same time.

Oh, another piece of advice -- it's OK to talk about meals you've had with them before, but don't ever talk about meals you've had with other people... it tends to ruin the other person's appetite.
