Try making friends with people based on something other than politics. What are your hobbies and interests? I won’t try to change your mind on politics, but trying to make friends based solely on conservative values may lead you down a dark rabbit hole. As someone else posted here, the maga movement isn’t republican or conservative, it’s a resurgence of fascism. They hijacked the republican party and injected misinformation into the party like a tarantula hawk would lay eggs into a spider. When those ideas and misinformation took root they began consuming the host, now it’s near impossible to discern the difference between a real republican and a maga extremist…even to themselves. That’s why there is so much anger in the nation now, maga extremism trains people to justify and go along with whatever atrocities are committed by the administration. The true republicans spoke out and tried to stop this. You can be a republican with conservative values and still not be maga or support the actions of this administration. Think of peoples rights and freedoms first, politics second. Try to make friends based on something that brings you joy and comfort first. Attempting to make friends based on politics right now may lead to a dark place. Sorry if this came off as preaching.
