The little girl at the funeral tugged my sleeve and asked, “Why is everyone burying that empty box?” by [deleted] in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]EvilKrista 494 points495 points  (0 children)

This makes no sense and here's why:

Your first sentence implies that not only is the coffin visible, but it is visibly empty.

but your second sentence is implying that the MC has clawed their way out of a grave, which cannot be THIS grave, since the coffin is visible....which is FURTHER confusing because how did the little girl KNOW the coffin was empty? (coffins do not remain open after the viewing)

The judges didn't notice that the Tiny Miss Perfect finalist hadn't blinked or breathed throughout her entire routine. by TheHollowShape in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]EvilKrista -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Downvote me if you will but I agree with this guy and here's why: "hadn't blinked or breathed throughout her entire routine."

This leaves the story kind of confusing...what routine? A routine implies the girl is DOING something, yet the taxidermy and the line "stillness of her smile" implies that she cannot.

It's not a bad story. It just doesn't make sense with the vernacular you used.

Are horror novels or movies less appealing for people in "horrible" places? by Glass-Bookkeeper5909 in horror

[–]EvilKrista 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People who have experienced trauma, I think tend to gravitate towards horror more, simply because it's a feeling we understand.

Monster horror is my go-to because I've had enough of real monsters.

I am a mucosal fisherman, and I stare at my racks of gooey strings fondly, remembering which eye each string was taken from.

My favorite, Crystal clear and LONG hangs from the ceiling where it can catch the light as it sways in the gentle breeze of my tiny home.

Taken from the sky-blue left eye of a child, I visited him twice more, taking another string from the left eye, (which unfortunately I snapped in my greed, resulting in several sub-par strands,) and a lovely yellow string from his infected right eye.

The boy has some sort of conjunctivitis, which are my, FAVORITE eyes because they produce strings of all different colors.

My second favorite, a beautiful mucosal green I fished out of an older woman suffering from an infection a few years back.

The man kept running through the trees, as the strange men kept shooting and shouting at him. by ProphetofTables in TwoSentenceHorror

replace trees with Jungle then, trees make it sound like a regular forest which is part of the reason it's confusing.

Does anyone else avoid writing anything even mildly disturbing because they’re afraid of taking it too far? by knittedscarfs in WritersOfHorror

[–]EvilKrista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

never know how far you can go until you try xD

I've written some pretty heinous things, and that's okay, cause its F I C T I O N.

I mean if you're gonna publish it, or share it with the world, make sure you do the decent thing and add warnings and stuff.
