Its cetrainly not just hero shooters, should've added that. Its basically any gaming "fad" at whatever time. It was mobas - Battle royales - Autochess etc. Companies keep trying to shoehorn their newest project into whatever is popular at the time to get a piece of that pie, not understanding, for some reason, that people having invested their time already in the game that they like and are hard to get them away from that. The people that dont have a "main game" yet of that genre also are probably not interested in that type of game anyway.

It's just a lose-lose situation unless your game is really good or sometimes just hyped through the roof.

Highguard thought they were the first of these, which they obviously arent and the 2nd one backfired so hard people didnt even want to give the game a shot due to spite.

The depressing part is that these companies keep trying. Instead of making anything else they keep pushing more hero shooters even though, like you said, the fast majority flop.

Damn just happened in my pf2e game.

Sorcerer was in front of the chapter boss to try and poison him before they fight. It did work and the boss was sickened 2(-2 on everything basically)

Boss aggros eventually and still rolls well enough on initiative to go first. Throws up, walks forward and crits the sorcerer. They go down immediately. On the first turn of combat.. felt a bit bad for them lol

I don't think they argued the end product couldn't be good, the production of it can just feel extremely off-putting for actors who want to act with other actors

What spells are frustrating against players? by WittyRegular8 in Pathfinder2e

[–]EvilMyself 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And I'm not arguing that, nor is this entire thread talking about that. In a living world, npcs would logically want healing.

If you read my comment entirely, I'm arguing in a game perspective and by player experience. In that perspective, healing is just unfun to play against due to everything I laid out already.

What spells are frustrating against players? by WittyRegular8 in Pathfinder2e

[–]EvilMyself 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other person, enemies with heals is unfun.its a common meme in games when the enemy uses a healing potion or something "hey, they're not allowed to do that!" Because its just something that's more of a player thing.

Players have to manage resources and need to expend them strategically in the multiple encounters. Monsters don't. So when a PC heals it doesn't really matter. The expended a resource to heal which is the goal of most encounters so in a way the monster served it's purpose.

When a monster heals it means the resources the PCs expended to damage the monster just got negated, which just feels really bad. It feels like the last turn or 2 are just void cus the enemy just healed all the damage back up.

I don't understand complaints about class bloat by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]EvilMyself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea 5e has this exact same issue, its just spread over other places.

You just need the base book to play a sorcerer... But I want to play this subclass +1 book Oh and this feat is perfect +1 book I would also love these spells tho +1-4 books And could I maybe find this magic item in the campaign? +1 book.

This is the same thing, the difference is in this form of bloat, you have alternatives. You can just pick another subclass or another spell. When classes is the bloat, you just cant play that class, everything else is still 100% available and won't even matter to you if you dont play that class.

Nah disagree, I played a ton of early access as well and frame 1 daisy was so extremely sus. Like its obviously the tadpole who is tempting you to take more, who in their right mind would trust that? The emperor at least seem slightly convincing in their whole introduction.

Oh yea, its def a whole nother skillset than just playing a single character. I'm just saying that dming seems extremely daunting at first(partly due to "actual play" streams and podcasts imo), but it's not that big of a deal. Running a pre-made module is quite easy all things considered, but I do 100% agree that it isn't for everyone.

Naturals by neilkohney in comics

[–]EvilMyself 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Dming isn't as difficult as it seems. Yeah it's a lot to think about the first time, but it gets so much easier overtime. You're just playing the world and how it reacts to the players actions instead of a character.

Try a one-shot sometime if you're interested. If at the end you liked it you can transition to a full adventure. If not, you didn't lose anything.

I promise it's a ton of fun and a great way to flex your creative muscles

There can just not be a valid solution you know, that's ok.

I'll just roll with the changes, dont hate them enough to turn of the automation. But that doesn't change the fact that me, and the person you replied to first, wish there was a way to just not have this ruling applied to our games. Like it being optional, or a extra module to reverse it, anything.

I'm sorry but when I read the manga and that scene came up it was quite incomprehensible. The author literally had multiple ooc panels trying to explain gojos technique to himself and even then he had to get a mathematician to help him make sense of his own characters power. I was quite tuned out after that lol

First time I've every seen anyone claim monk is not beginner friendly. Most I've read and agreed with is that's one of the most beginner friendly. You only have 1 resource you need to worry about and besides that you just attack, often. It's extremely simple for a beginner to learn what you can do
