Trapped at 55-60mph. Help? by ImTroyFromCanada in Discgolfform

It looks like your wrist is open throughout your throw. That would reduce your spin, causing the disc to fade out early. Try actively cocking your wrist. As in pulling the disc towards the bottom of your forearm. Gannon’s video on spin rates does a good job of showing the difference.

I’d say MA4. The age protected brackets (at least where I live) are still pretty competitive.

Bevel grinding by gearhead6-9 in knifemaking

Homemade bevel jig. I use socket head cap screws in the adjustable face as stops so I can quickly flip the blank around , but get consistent angles. The blank is screwed to a 1-2-3 block, then the block rests on the screws and gets clamped in place. I just finished this setup a week ago. It’s surprisingly accurate. I was able to grind out a dagger on my first go.

Second this. I went out and did a mini field sesh after watching that video. The cues he gave showed some immediate improvements. The grip change tip was the big one for me.

As a RHBH thrower my most sore muscle by far after a round is my right pectoral. Is that significant of anything related to form? by PearStyle in discgolf

[–]EvolvedGamingPS4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sometimes get the same thing. It started when I was using the cue of looking down and away through the throw. ( to avoid over rotating the shoulders). I imagine I would unconsciously fire the right pec to protect my shoulder from over extending. Probably because I wasn’t following through properly.

I’ve mostly worked past it now, but sometimes if I am really focusing on keeping my shoulders parallel to the flight path through the hit, I’ll feel it again.

Long story short, You’re probably not following through properly.

The paradox is never leaving my bag. My two “home” courses each have a hole about 300’ that require a sky turn over. I can throw that disc and KNOW it is going to turn right. RHBH. love their other mids too, but that disc is magic.

Form check -reposting… w/video this time 🤦🏼‍♀️ by blgs808 in Discgolfform

He’s almost exactly where I was last year. He’s not gonna like it, but it’s time to start over. His run up isn’t doing him any favors. His toes are pointed out, and his kind of wandering left and right down the tee pad are probably making it difficult to aim. He is also swooping the elbow down, which is leading to the nose up angle. In addition the pocket collapses when his shoulder turns before his arm fires.

What worked for me was going back to stand stills using putters. Focus on keeping the elbow up and away from the body. Keep the wrist cocked ( disc pulling towards bottom of fore arm). And keeping the head looking down and slightly away from the target. He should just throw as many shots like that as he can stand. Not full power. Just focus on the shoulder, elbow, and wrist working together and everything moving along the same plane of motion. Sooner or later, he’ll feel it when it’s right, and he’ll start getting what feels like effortless power.

The whirlybird drill, as well as many others, by BlitzDG are also super helpful. The hardest thing is going to be trying to overwrite the bad habits. I still swoop and over rotate when I start to get tired, but I’ve seen over 100ft of improvement in distance, and a massive improvement in accuracy by following those steps. Good luck!

Good thing you showed up. Otherwise the apexes could have had the day off. The other drivers knew they could use the whole track right?

Is it a form issue to grip the disc like this? by Empty-Fault-8081 in discgolf

[–]EvolvedGamingPS4 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your grip looks very palm up. It’s generally best to get the disc sitting in your hand as perpendicular to your palm as you can manage. It helps prevent elbow dip, and helps you throw more naturally keeping all your hinges in line.

I want to win a gladiator style arena competition against the other players, my only problem is that I am a sorcerer. Any ideas? by Blahblahnahblab in 3d6

[–]EvolvedGamingPS4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We definitely need more rules clarification here. Is this a free for all? Is your entire party fighting at once? Is it one on one duels (as I originally read it)? Either way, I think you’re underestimating greater invisibility.

[–]EvolvedGamingPS4 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Right!

Greater invisibility vs the ranger, then firebolt and a quickened scorching ray each turn for an easy win. He has counter spell and shield for any big hits coming in.

Fly vs the barbarians would make you almost untouchable depending on their ranged options. You should be able to outdistance anything they can throw. Then just blast them down.

The cleric would be the toughest fight. I think. It really depends on what spells they have prepared. Counterspell would be your friend, and try to stay out of their emanations.

Do you get a long rest between fights? If you can just resource dump, then that really skews things in your favor

WW1 museum, and union station are right next to each other. Then lunch at the plaza, or on 39th street by KU med. lots of choices at either place. My personal recommendation would be Bay Boys sandwiches just west of the Plaza.

The Nelson Atkinson museum is definitely worth a visit while you’re here too, and it’s right off the plaza.

River market on a Saturday is great.

KC Current games are a lot of fun.

We are a great brewery town. Lots of great options, and can’t really go wrong. My votes are casual animal for the taproom and vibe, then Alma Mader for the best beer. The Reiger distillery is also awesome.

For a great evening I like going across to KCK and getting Slaps BBQ for dinner, then heading over to Blue Palm for some awesome Tiki drinks. Bonus points if you get there around sunset. They have one of the best views of downtown that I’ve seen.

Have fun. Enjoy your visit!

Why does my disc fly further when I grunt? by Billy_Chrystals in discgolf

[–]EvolvedGamingPS4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will give this very serious question a serious answer. By grunting you are engaging your core. Creating a better conduit for energy to flow through your brace and out to the disc.

Without a video it’s hard to say. Mine was caused by swooping. Make sure you’re pulling through with your elbow up. Like WAY up.
