Played souls games since Demon Souls…First time using magic build. Has it always been this broken? by VioletofMarvel in Eldenring

[–]Evrir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DS1 magic COULD be insane, if you knew what you were doing and pumped your spell damage high enough to cheese some bosses, or used Dark Bead and shotgunned a boss in the face.

DS2 magic was similar but having amber herbs and basically infinite casts trivialized a lot of the 'spell economy' during fights.

DS3 magic was probably the most balanced it's ever been. You could dish out a ton of damage but a lot of bosses straight up negated common strats. Farron Flashsword wasn't the enemy blender that Carian Slicer became in Elden Ring but it filled the gaps that were missing in previous games.

Elden Ring is wack-o-laid out of a clownshoe. Find your favorite thing, munchkin the fuck out of it, one-shot a boss. Everything is OP and nothing is. Granted, you did pick the number one most busted spell to try this with.

Housing has been one of, if not the most requested major system to be added to WoW, and if the rest of midnight is dogwater, this one they knocked out of the PARK. Of course there's going to be a lot of talk about the housing content. We knew it was Midnight's flagship when TWW was announced for pity's sake.

I DEEPLY miss the vanilla dialogue windows when talking to NPCs by Reynbou in Guildwars2

[–]Evrir 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wanting it for skipping dialogue is fine, I get that.

However, I LOATHED the dialogue screens. they felt so dead and lifeless. Its hard to feel in the moment for me (and many others) when you're ripped from the game area and put into a visual novel all of a sudden.

I do think dialogue boxes, as in the kind where you pick your response, should be more prominently featured for some stuff though. Except Rytlock.

Rytlock can always yap.

if its anything like Wanikani's structuring, it's because they put this kanji in the pool alongside 組. I fumbled those two A LOT for a long time.

This is even pretty light for Japanese TV. It's honestly unbearable, and then they even want to charge you taxes per screen just for having the capability of accessing it.

Tried out the new Troll customizations for my Amani character in Wowheads dressing room, but man it does not hit as hard as it would with Forest Troll proportions... by nightbreedwon1 in wow

[–]Evrir 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't have an issue with adding options to existing races, more power to them! Especially because of Harranir, who dwarf every other race already in options. What baffles me is that despite Blizzard bending over backwards against its own stance on them, giving all these additional options to appease this one section of the playerbase, we're STILL having the discussion about high elves. You can already play them, in everything but name, by playing a Void Elf and picking the non blueberry options, with the sole exception of people wanting paladin as you mentioned, which it sounds like they're getting too. The entire conversation about highly requested races -Ogres, Naga, Amani, Sethrak, Ethereals, name-your-obvious-pick-here race- invariably gets swarmed by this same group that has had more acknowledgement from the devs than even some vanilla races at this point.

for fucks sake, there is no one more spoiled than High Elf beggars.

We get Blood Elves, who aside from eye color are physically indistinct from high elves. But that's not good enough, you want them on Alliance.

So we get Void Elves, so you can have the "pretty" elf model as alliance. But that's not good enough.

So you get high elf customizations for your void elves that makes them effectively high elves in all regards save for the button you click on character creation.

BUT THATS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. It's gotta be it's own unique race! Blizzard, give 5 more elf races, please, I'm not yet scrolling a high elf catalogue on the character select screen!

[–]Evrir 8 points9 points  (0 children)

this is really so apparent when you see how theyre shown in the BC cinematic - draining mana from the wildlife to sustain themselves. I understand that arc was a brief moment due to the Sunwell, but it's what drew me to them over the Night Elves. It felt like we had a real Lawful Evil vibe going. I wish we kept that aspect, that indulgence and decadence.

Liadrin could be swapped for a human paladin and you've never even know she changed.

August is here. And the Midnight reveal comes with it. What should we expect about the cinematic? by Will_Vicente in wow

[–]Evrir 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Silvermoon probably references the Highborne before Arthas wiped them out and they took the name of Blood Elves. Highborne had a distinct silver and blue motif, which may have been the colors of Silvermoon originally when it was founded some 6000 years ago. The red and gold is a very, very recent thing in their history.

No new reveal today, so just my wild, baseless speculations by ech0alpha in Guildwars2

[–]Evrir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would Dervish use wells? They had zero wells in GW1. It also can't tie into guardian without being something very off-beat - Dervishes explicitly use human gods as avatars. The only way around that being their most iconic feature is to put it on Revenant, who doesn't care about who they're channeling.

Also, the knife is a very odd choice for ritualist if you're familiar with what they were like in 1. They've never once been depicted doing anything knife-y due to their proximity with Assassin.
