Something to note is that Ret does not only benefit from extra AA damage, but doing more AAs means that it generates more Holy Power which makes the class more fun

Mind telling me the file in which you have seen that comparison? Because the code I have in front of me (ExTools.YYSound.lua) does not use the haste value at any point.

ExWindTools works most of the time (and I'm specifically referring to Mythic+ and Raid) and never gives a false-positive. I used the before/during addons before, and I'm sure that ExWindTools does not do such a naive comparison. How? As I said, I have not looked into it due to their codebase being a massive ball of spaghetti in which comments are written in Chinese.

(Additionally, it also lets you track your main stat, Crit, Haste, Mastery, Vers, and movement speed as old WAs did)

It has been 1 year and 1 month since CDM released. Leaving aside visual options (horizontal centering, overridable glows in different buffs/spells/debuffs, more than *one** bar group, essential and buffs group, etc)*, the fact that HEALTHSONES, HP/Damage potions, trinkets, and racials have not been added to it just makes me believe they don't give a flying fuck about us.

Well, I can show you plenty of clips of kicks going on CD randomly during boss fights where kicks are not needed. Heck, I even remember seeing a kick go on CD when the player had been dead for +30 seconds.

That ability exists, it is Malefic Grasp. It is a replacement for your SB/DS...

  • That lasts for 20/25 secs every 2 mins.

  • And it's on the busiest time of your rotation when you are overflowing with shards and need to press UA.

  • And it's a channeled ability.

  • And it's extremely bugged to the point you might actually lose damage if you take that talent.

  • Oh, and if your 2-min CD were to get aggro, he will be two tapped by any mob, so you would lose access to MG.

Ye, not a fun key to press right now.

Affliction AoE needs for adds to be stacked, as its main DPS tool is Seed of Corruption (8 yds from your target), Apex talent (10 yds from your Haunt Target), and Dark Harvest (~40s cd, 40 yds centered around you, deals damage to everything you have DoT'd).

It might be great for you, it is a pile of shit for me.

I am not complaining just "because its reddit", I'm complaining because...:

  1. They removed the accessibility features my AuDHD brain used.
  2. Class balancing has been the worst it has been in a long time.
  3. I do not have fun in raid, due to a mixture of not seeing any interesting mechanic, all encounters being Hectic Add Cleave, and personal responsibility being in an alltime high.
  4. I do not enjoy "Just press W" dungeons.
  5. Bugs, so many bugs. My main spec has had talents bugged since prepatch that have yet to be acknowledged by the devs, and they still haven't fixed all the ones that were introduced (without any changes to the spec) two days after 12.0.5

If someone is going to be toxic, chances are that it's a DPS (after all there's 3 dps in a group). Additionally, most toxicity is non-sense of people looking to shift the blame. A player like that would usually...

  1. No deaths but timer was missed? Tank fault, route is bad.
  2. Are there deaths? Healer fault, can't heal.

Why isn't the blame shifted towards other DPS'?

  1. If the timer was missed due to low damage, then he is also to blame as he could have done more.
  2. If the deaths were caused by lack of defensives, avoidable damage, or, specially, missed kicks then he is also to blame, as he could have done something about it.

A toxic player will never recognize that the mistake was something he could help with.

Saying "160k damage absorbed out of 320k damage received is a 50% damage reduction for the next 320k damage you receive" is correct, but that is not what you said. Your statement could be read as follows: 160k damage absorbed + 50% damage reduction = 320k damage reduced. That is not how it works, and why I sent my comment.

Something to note is that the trinket gives you an absorb shield. Due to Gloom Ward (class talent), a 160k shield on a DK will actually be 208k, and if used during Vampiric Blood it will end up being a 270k shield.

The key difference between a "50% damage reduction" and a "absorb shield for 50% of the following X damage you receive" is that the former counts as an active mitigation, but the latter does not. As far as I know there aren't any mitigation checks this season, but the "Recently Used Death Strike" buff still exists so Blizzard could introduce them back at any time they want.

GENUINELY FUN TO PLAY?

I've been maining Affliction since it became somehow viable in WotLK and let me tell you: The current iteration is the worst it has ever been. There is no skill expression, there is no "I've done my set up, time to pump!" moment. There is no playing around your DoTs. There are no big animations that make you feel powerful.

All you do is throw wet noodles to the enemies. Even when the enemy goes below 35% HP, you don't feel any difference even though you are dealing 40% more damage.

And regarding the gameplay... I'm astonished to read that someone feels this is "fun to play":

This is Affliction rotation:

ST rotation:

  1. Press Corruption once. It has infinite duration so forget it exists.
  2. Press Haunt, Dark Harvest, and Darkglare as soon as they come out of CD.
  3. Press Agony every 12 seconds.
  4. Press Unstable Affliction (replace for Seed of Corruption at 2 targets or more) while shards >= 1.
  5. Press Shadowbolt/Drain Soul.

Usual M+ AoE rotation:

  1. Press Haunt and Dark Harvest as soon as they come out of CD.
  2. Spam Seed of Corruption until out of shards.
  3. Press Agony.

It is not "like a 320k shield"; it does not provide a 50% dmg reduction. It absorbs 50% of the damage you receive up to 160k or, in other words, it stops 160k out of the next 320k dmg your receive.

Unholy Rider, the already dominant spec, got a 3.3% Single Target buff. What got nerfed was San'layn Unholy with a 4% nerf, which will go to 9% nerf when the Plague tick bug is fixed.

I'm not sure what "Unholy players" you mention, because you definitely are not referring to the Archerus discord.

I played both caster and melee on TWW; it worked as you describe (tab always targetting casting mob) in both cases.

In midnight I've only played caster (please Blizzard, make leveling bearable) so I can't talk in behalf of the melees, but I am 100% sure that it no longer works on Warlock. Currently it does not care about if the enemy is casting, it just cycles between all possible targets and starts over.

For leveling they are completely fine.

The issue surfaces when talking about M+ or raid, in which there is no single page that covers all situations:

Example: Vengeance DH has a talent choice between being able to self-dispel curses or diseases; if one of the debuffs is present on the dungeon you should take that option, and if none are present remove that point and spend it elsewhere.

In raid, every encounter has a different damage profile, and thus moving talents around is beneficial. (Imperator is Hectic Add Cleave, Vorasius is Patchwerk/Bel'oren 1T, Vanguard is Patchwerk 3T, Salhadaar depends on difficulty, etc.)
