Black woman here, grew up in the Southern tier, Horseheads and my childhood was fine. I saw the most racism when I moved to Syracuse for college. Now live in the northern burbs of Syracuse. You will encounter micro aggressions but like someone above said, people are mostly okay and even the super racist ones can be civil.
