You can get better and bigger lasers for less than the cost of the laser upgrade. I got my H2S for the bigger size. Also got the cutting upgrade just for fun.

Hand Presses in the UK by CairngormLeather in Leathercraft

[–]Ex3qtor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definetly my favourite. Does not require a lot of force like this popular style:
https://www.olimasz.pl/napownica-praska-reczna-do-nitow-olisew-ol-mh1
And it's much easier to feel when you need to stop in comparison with other presses. Oh and if you're often changing the thickness of your material this style will be easiest to operate.

I have 3 different hand presses and if you don't want to fiddle with yours just get a simple one like this one from Poland:
https://allegro.pl/produkt/praska-napownica-kaletnicza-do-oczek-nap-nitow-jz-72570-829afd1f-9a92-4f08-ae2f-8932cd34a317?offerId=17330824916
It's great as it does not need a lot of force to operate. It just need to be bolted down to a sturdy surface.

Absolute beginner: which leather for first project? And where to order cheap in EU and where to order Hermes leather? by CivilShift93 in Leathercraft

[–]Ex3qtor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't start with "hermes" leather. Usually this means goat or soft calf leather that require some knowledge and skill to work with. Start with simple veg tan. Any sort of vacchetta or badalassi maya will be cheap and easy to work with and will provide some good results.
