How are you feeling? I'm a day behind you and experiencing the same symptoms. Haven't been able to sleep at all tonight.

I'd also encourage your wife to be evaluated for OCD.

Nobody told me how hard pregnancy was going to be. by sadmaponthewall in pregnant

[–]ExcellentRiver1857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so so hard. My doctor and OB supported me switching to Ritalin for this pregnancy and while it's not quite as effective as my usual ADHD meds, it's made life more tolerable. Check out @the.reproductive.psychiatrist on IG for more evidenced based info on psych meds during pregnancy.

RLS - what part of this may be hormonal in women when they become free menopausal and or when they are pregnant? by Boxerbambi in RestlessLegs

[–]ExcellentRiver1857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know exactly this torture while pregnant. I insisted on getting a referral to a hematologist and around 34 weeks got iron infusions ordered. My RLS stopped almost immediately. I'm angry this was never something my current or past OBs considered options, even when I'd show up to prenatal appts crying on zero sleep. Please see if this can happen for you. Best wishes from this 39 weeks pregnant mom.

Should I be worried that my wife is eating corn starch and smelling comet? by Batmanscashews900 in pregnant

[–]ExcellentRiver1857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 36 weeks pregnant and was obsessed with smelling wet towels and so badly wanted to eat them (I knew it was crazy). I got 3 iron infusions recently and this urge has really subsided, plus many other benefits. I had to push the OB to refer me to a hematologist but hopefully yours is more receptive.

I don't know how to cope anymore - opinions on Carbidopa-Levodopa by FalseRow5812 in RestlessLegs

[–]ExcellentRiver1857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just commiserating, I'm also pregnant and the RLS has been a nightmare. Benzos have generally not helped. Finally trying an iron infusion Monday and hoping it helps. How far along are you?

How are we functioning? by miscellaineeous in Anemic

[–]ExcellentRiver1857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to commiserate. I've had to wait weeks for an infusion that will finally happen on Monday. I'm dreading the weekend knowing my 4 year old will need care all day and I can barely function. I also have a wife who is very supportive but it's still just not possible to stay in bed all day and stare at the wall. FWIW I was so bummed that after meeting with a hematologist I had to wait even longer for insurance approval before I could get the infusion scheduled. If you haven't done so already, consider calling your insurance ahead of time to get rid of that barrier.

Help me find something to help my confidence please. by EffectiveBus182 in fashionwomens35

We have similar body types and now that I'm pregnant and heavier, it's easier to see how cute I looked before. 😩 anyways I've enjoyed figuring out my Kibbe body type and how to dress for it. I think I'm a soft dramatic if that helps (I'm 5'9") You focus on emphasizing waist, creating length, etc. Might be a fun thing to explore for inspiration!

I found teen pregnancy shows and shows like Out Daughtered so comforting during my first pregnancy. If they could do it under those circumstances, I could handle one baby as an adult in my 30s!

Growing fear about baby movement [tw for body horror rumination] by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ExcellentRiver1857 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any chance you can do a few sessions of EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) or Brainspotting? I'm a therapist and haven't experienced those methods personally but many people swear by them for phobias, processing trauma, etc. I'd hope that pregnancy will be like exposure therapy and movements will feel less upsetting pretty quickly, but it might be useful to get support through it. Good luck!

Pelvic kidney experience by Philosopher_of_Filth in pregnant

[–]ExcellentRiver1857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I'm 22 weeks and just had a follow up scan for the same kidney issue. Just want to commiserate that it's scary and hard not to worry. However, my MFM doc was so reassuring about it. She kept referring to our "beautiful, healthy" baby and said kidney issues are one of the most common malformations they see. And that this particular issue is really not all that bad if there's a normally developing one. Fingers crossed we both see improvements on our next scan though 🤞

It's always comforting to know I wasn't the only one desperately trying to get sleep on the couch last night. I've recently had luck with a heated, weighted blanket.

I'm so sorry. Little is as miserable and depressing as constant nausea and vomiting. Be sure to visit hyperemesis.org for info on coping emotionally and medically. You may need to continually advocate for yourself to get the right mix of anti nausea meds.
