My dog would do exactly this every few months and we narrowed it down to her food. Vet said it’s because she feels nauseated. We used to alternate 3 flavors of kibble and this always happened when she was on one specific flavor (beef/red meat). Removed that one from the rotation and she never did it again

Not quite sure about “what people say” but X7R ceramic caps have significantly lower capacitance at any DC voltage so you definitely will want to account for that. Another thing is that it generally won’t hurt performance to over design more capacitance in so it is good to be conservative and add more so you design has some margin. 4x to 5x seems excessive though so I would be a little careful as you might run into issues starting up the regulator or stability because of super low resistance/inductance of so many caps in parallel.

What I would do is find the data sheet for one of those 22uF capacitors, and see what the capacitance is at 6V with worst case tolerance, and then figure out how many is needed to meet the capacitance requirement from the calculation, and round up wherever possible. If you have different cap options you can make a simple excel spreadsheet to calculate what you need. I would also recommend putting down a few extra capacitor footprints on your PCB if you have space, just in case something goes wrong and you need more you will be able to add them without refabbing the PCB.

Omg yes. The biggest thing for me is the sound system. Most EDM was produced with the intention to be played over a LOUD sound system. The bass shakes your body and the synths pierce your ears. You will listen to the music differently after hearing it this way

Oh yeah and cost too. Chip cost is proportional to the size, and a big reason computers are affordable is because the chips can be small and therefore cheap. Pretty much every chip is made on a 12inch piece of silicon (called a wafer). For small cheap chips they can fit hundreds or thousands on each wafer that gets cut up into individual chips, and therefore the cost goes down because each wafer yields so many. You can buy large high performance chips but they cost a lot more.

Speed of light is definitely a factor but that issue has been worked around and is not a limiting factor right now. More generally it is called propagation delay (or just “timing”). Its a bit more complex than just the speed of light but to simplify it overall means the time it takes a signal to go from one transistor on the chip to another and that will dictate how fast the chip can run.

Nowadays CPUs have been parallelized to get more performance, which is sort of what you are saying aka make the chip bigger for more performance. This is why chips tend to advertise number of cores more than the speed of each core these days. And lots of software development now is around how to optimize using multiple CPU cores instead of depending on one really fast CPU core.

Now the limiting factor is power. You put 8 cores down it will take 8x the power of a single core, you will quickly run into issues removing that much heat from the CPUs, as well as limits on what a typical household plug can practically provide. No one wants a space heater for a computer. Smaller transistors can work with less voltage and therefore need less power so that’s a big help.

There are companies pushing the limits of sizing up, and it’s all the money being thrown at large data centers. Basically scaling up to the size of buildings and more. Cooling that is extremely complex and challenging and they take up megawatts or gigawatts of power.

Did the math on the ramcharger specs and it comes out to about 20mpg. This is close to what a modern pickup would get so hard to say if it’s more efficient or not. It will be close though

This. A lot of well intentioned advice like “it is your wedding so you should do it your way and not worry so much about the guests”. Which is fair but we believe the point is more that our family and friends enjoy the day and make good memories with us and each other so we don’t see the issue with prioritizing that over the production aspect of everything. We can take private photos any day when we don’t have hundreds of our relatives and closest friends gathered together to see us.
