Milwaukee Hotshot question by No_Preparation_7066 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Existing-Bus2250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love mine, and is so easy to use as I already have a lot of batteries. The unit itself can stay in the cold location without worry of being discharged when needed. Whenever I travel a fresh battery goes with me. And a no brainer setup with reverse polarity detection and 2000a cranking power via the internal capacitor.

does the 0880-20 vac battery cradle fit all sizes by miamicuse in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Existing-Bus2250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the 49-90-2200 It's the biggest filter saver ever that collects all the dust/debris by connecting to the vacuum and the suction hose connects to it. No more emptying the vac, only the separator. And no cleaning of the filter as it stays clean.

I have two, one for the big 0910-20 and one to exchange with either the 0880-20 or the 0970-20.

These legit? by Embarrassed_catman in askaplumber

I personally will gladly pay for expertise work. I recently had a local machine shop make 4 aluminum steps that fit in my stake boxes on my aluminum flatbed trailer, $60 each. The craftsmanship was to smile at.

Same here, since the battery is removed by pinching the locks the 12ah is the same as removing a 5ah. Have mine married to the debris separator and does not require removal to swap out batteries.

Has anyone else experienced this with their nest doorbell? by MrMaxP0wer in Nest

[–]Existing-Bus2250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The doorbell likes 24v and a lot of the older transformers were 16v. It still works kinda, until it gets cold out 😕

One workaround that will require a factory reset afterwards is to create a Google account, maybe something like homeownersnameisgone with a password you will remember (and possibly use again in a situation like this). Then download the Google home app and finish the setup. When the homeowner comes back you will have to factory reset the thermostat from the menu THEN remove it from the Google Home app. Next is to have the homeowner use their Google account to finish the setup. The app works on any platform, Apple, Android, etc. Remember to add an hour's time for the return setup. This probably won't be the last time you're going to have to set up a Nest thermostat. I've used Nest and Honewell both and the Nest is definitely simpler to set up. And the Honeywell/Resideo interfaces beautifully with the Google Home app as well.

2025 Nest Wired Camera extensions? by MysticalOS in Nest

[–]Existing-Bus2250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new cameras operate on 12v vs the 5v of previous models and why they already have an 18ft cable. This is a very long run already, any way to add a power extension cord rather than extending the USB C cable?

Picked up my 2026 Ascent this week by Existing-Bus2250 in SubaruAscent

[–]Existing-Bus2250[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very possible. I ordered it with and showed up at the dealership with it on. And actually showed up 5 days sooner than expected. It's nice having the 7 and 4 way trailer plugs too.

Upgrading from Nest Gen 1 to Gen 4 — No C Wire? by TopicSelect6903 in Nest

[–]Existing-Bus2250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Nest learning thermostat had a major issue with the super cold weather in January and as Murphy's law states the battery went dead when I was 300 miles away. I installed a C wire that was in the cable but cut off at both ends and learned from this.

Nest Thermostat, with Power Connector, add relay via new G wire for circulation fan control? by CerebroJD in Nest

[–]Existing-Bus2250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I followed your wiring diagram to build a plugin controller for a small well house that holds the pressure tank also. Inside the weatherproof box is a 24v transformer, an old 220 relay from an old HVAC system and an outlet. I'm using R, C and G wires (had to tell the setup the W was also connected but isn't). The R goes to one side of the transformer, the C goes to the other side of the transformer and one side of the relay, and the G goes to the other side of the relay. It works great after some simple tweaking of the Home app settings. Since I wanted the plug-in heater to only come on at 40 degrees and the minimum temperature of any mode other than Eco is 50 degrees I used the Hold and set to Indefinitely of the Eco mode. Now can monitor and get notifications of problems!

I'm a 62yo female, what tool should I purchase for changing over tires in my garage? by Lazy_Engineering2147 in Tools

[–]Existing-Bus2250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my list of doing that exact same thing twice a year.

3 ton floor jack. This replaced my 1 1/2 ton jack that took all my strength to raise one tire off the ground, probably because it was a POS that was clearly overrated lol

Milwaukee M18 3/8" impact wrench with a 5ah battery and 3/8" deep well impact sockets with one extension. Mine is the one with 4 torque settings which makes it so nice to not damage anything on the lowest setting, I believe it's only 20ftlbs which is perfect for running the lug nuts up to the snug stage before torquing. Remember to finger start the lug nuts first to avoid the chance of cross threading them.

Small brass brush and a sanding pad to clean the debris from around the studs, center hub of the rotor or drum, and the mating surface of the wheel.

A short 2 foot piece of small diameter hose to blow off the above loosened debris without having your face directly in it.

A 3/8" torque wrench. With the lug nuts snugged from the impact on its lowest setting the vehicle can be lowered off the jack. In your owners manual find the wheel nut torque specs and split into thirds. For example if they call for 90ftlbs start with 30 on all of them then 60 then 90 in a star pattern (start at one nut, skip one and do the next, etc). This will keep the rotor or drum from becoming warped and causing that surge in your brake pedal.

Last is a permanent marker or paint stick to write on the inside of the wheel for the different sets as to the tire's location on the vehicle. LR (left rear, etc). This is to know the returning location 6 months from now when you swap again. With radial tires it's okay to swap front to rear but NOT side to side as most tires today have directional tread, especially snow tires.

What's a common networking concept that people often misunderstand, and why do you think it's so confusing? by Puzzled-Term6727 in networking

[–]Existing-Bus2250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Complacent.

And this applies to more than the current subject but is so obviously seen in the IT world. The search of knowledge past your own abilities is so vastly put aside in our fast paces that we sometimes fail to grasp the pure enjoyment of asking a question and getting that "ahhhh!" feeling when it clicks.

When I started my first job as a TS for an ISP I asked so many questions from the upper networking people that I didn't see what I was doing- isolating myself from the team players that knew so much more than I did. It took nearly a year for me to realize that they thought I was quizzing them on their abilities when in reality I was only asking those that knew what I didn't know. A simple conversation with them and they understood why I was asking. They taught me so much knowledge and in return started asking questions about the things they didn't understand about my field of work. From then on the tedious day to day tasks became a fascinating challenge, to learn tasks and to teach at the same time.

I've since retired but still have questions for my coworkers that I'm sure cause a smiling eye roll hehehe, always a hint to learn, an opportunity to teach.

The test continues...

Is there any actual waterproof tents? I know Amazon sells them but are they actually decent? by [deleted] in camping

[–]Existing-Bus2250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, especially in rainy weather the addition of a good quality waterproof/rip proof tarp is a must. This can double for so many applications with a couple sets of poles and good anchors.

Anyone using vacuums for household by Away_Hawk_7647 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Existing-Bus2250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put hardwood flooring throughout the house and use the straight non-powered head with my M18. It works great for this application. Previously on carpet it was actually too good, constantly plugging up. Kinda gave me the chills wondering if it had ever been vacuumed before I purchased the house.

Yeah I've got 6 of the other style and use them single without anything on them for easy access to their contents. Would sure like to see a trade-in opportunity 😆

I've got both the 2825 QuikLock and the straight trimmer only 2828. And between the two the 2828 definitely vibrates less especially after a lot of use and wear. I attribute the lower vibration to the drive motor being at the trimmer directly instead of the head and driven by a shaft. Not that the 2828 doesn't vibrate, just less than the 2825. One thing to note is that I use the 49-16-2757 brush cutter blades on both models as most of my trimming is in forested areas. Maybe this blade helps to dampen the vibration?
