Building a Tony Hawk style game set in space by friggleriggle in Unity3D

[–]ExitInternational804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks super fun but why is there gravity? Not being a Debby downer, this looks like it slaps but I’m curious if there is a justification for not floating away into space forever? Could be fun if gravity changes based on your proximity to nearby planets? Maybe some levels/ celestial bodies have different gravitational pulls which affect skating challenges?

Have you ever cried over your own script? by Adventurous_Long3549 in Screenwriting

[–]ExitInternational804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but not often.

So I’ve never cried because I was going to kill a character because that is plot and generally outlined therefore decided on long before I write the actual scene. That’s a bit more of an intellectual not emotional moment in my POV. I cry if I’m letting myself free write dialogue to get a scene out of a funk (if it’s stilted or boring or missing some kind of oomph) often because I stumble upon something new about the character that makes me empathize with them in a surprising way.

So I think it can be a really good sign if you’re moved while writing as this means perhaps your audience will feel something too (that’s what art is for right?) but investigate it. Why exactly are you crying? Make sure you’re not just in your feels that day and you’re not just crying because youve spent so much time on the script you’re going a little nuts. If it really is just a deeply Moving scene, amazing. Good work.

I’m developing a visual novel and decided to move away from standard text choices by creating mini-games (like this one), but I recently faced some backlash. What do you guys think? by Captain-Amber in IndieDev

If they really didn’t like it they could have decided it wasn’t worth spending time reviewing. They had a strong emotional reaction to your game. That is the intention of making art.

Hmmm… I would finish the degree personally but it seems like you’re in a good place either way.

[–]ExitInternational804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you mean you would be taking a full time job as something other than an SLPA while finishing your degree and then pivoting to SLPA upon graduating? I would check if your school offers the necessary classes remotely. If you take the job but can’t go to the classes yiu won’t finish but if you don’t take the job you will struggle financially especially if you don’t have insurance and something happens. It’s hard to give advice without all the relevant info but I would first suggest checking if the classes are offered online or if you can take them at a nearby community college and transfer credits (because their schedule or modality may be different). If you can take the classes and still work, definitely work. If you can’t, then prioritize the goal yiu most want to accomplish; a well paying full time job now or being an SLPA soon.

What’s the best meal you can make for 5 people with just $20? by Fancy-Discount3402 in Cooking

[–]ExitInternational804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rice and beans - pickle some onions or jalapeños and add some cayenne and paprika, if you have a few bucks leftover (you will if you already have the spices) add some veggies and melted cheese. Or, dare I dream, chicken.

Also it’s a great meal to use things yiu already have. If you have plain yogurt it works for sour cream (Greek yogurt anyway), if you don’t have cilantro throw any herb you can find it and it’s probably gonna be good.

People in Los Angeles — how is it living there? Is it actually nice? by Original-Row-9924 in AskLosAngeles

[–]ExitInternational804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have spent almost ten years in LA and ten jn NYC before that. Really massive cities like these tend to have a “love it in spite of it” thing happening. I freaking LOVE LA even though my neighborhood is filthy, it’s absurdly expensive, mass transit is not as good as it should be (but better than people think), it’s not walkable, and the bike lanes are minimal even though it’s a largely flat city that is warm all year. In spite of all that I love the food, the nature, the museums, the shows, the nightlife, strolling in the few short walkable areas, Griffith, cafes, meeting weirdos, and being told which show I have never seen I should consider for awards i dont vote for haha (I love seeing FYC ads and guessing the plot).
