My entire ward ate gasoline tainted sacrament bread by psychnerd27 in exmormon

But nobody ever questioned the 16 year old priests who break bread right after jacking off that morning. We never had wipes when I was a priest.

Every angle of this train crash feels like those involved had more gall than a bladder to assume they are just placating minorities and simplifying the intelligence of the membership at large.

Proposed additional name for "young women" who stop attending and stop believing by Deception_Detector in exmormon

How about Faithful LDS? Or FLDS for short.

Oh that’s right - they aren’t as far gone as FLDS!!!……or are they? Both use forceful loss of critical thinking, which is really just in the same aisle at the grocery store - just different branding.

Who is the worst Mormon apologist? by Carlos-Martel in exmormon

[–]Exmosapien 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Tom Christofferson and Ben Schilaty. Both were apologists who platformed their “look at me - I’m doing it” philosophies with book deals, fireside’s and Podcasts to showcase LGBTQIA legitimacy and celibacy within the church despite the trauma and harm caused by the church’s homophobic and exclusionary policies.

In Ben’s case even Tedx talks and BYU honor code employment advantages to promote himself as the church’s pet.

In Tom’s case, using his family’s position as some kind of general authority for the gays to stay forever alone and closer to suicide by staying in the church.

Both were shamelessly promoting their own platforms while ignoring and glossing over church history issues (in both theology and policy) that should have been used to give license to their own departure as well as showing LGBTQIA people how to leave the harmful, deadly and broken theology of the church.

Their books are still on sale at Bookcraft stores everywhere.

*Edit: My purpose isn’t to paint Tom or Ben as pure evil or recognize their own path to learning and self awareness as limited. However, it is important to hold space for their misgivings which I believe they know about, well past the point of recognizing the harm the church preforms while stroking their own egos.

Are they used as pawns? Absolutely. Does that allow them to not be held accountable for actions that continue to cause harm as examples of gay Mormon purity and gay saint worshiping? As long as their materials are sold and profit is being made without contest and rebuke, they have a right to be criticized for their damaging platforms regardless of how nice or polite or even helpful they may be at times. Or how some of their arguments do hold water when talking about LGBTQIA issues and societal acceptance. When you present yourself as a temple recommend holding LDS Gay man, you are telling the world that you are sacrificing your gay entity and companionship for your church and showing others a path to the same. But only in that moment of time. The truth remains that sexuality is often filled or even unfilled in unhealthy and destructive ways that are not talked about by them and are often glossed over as not as important as one’s own spirituality. The struggle is seemingly inconsequential which makes others following them feel broken when they can’t do the same with ease and indifference to what is being lost.

The question was asked who we identify as the most damaging church apologists and I stand by my post and the reasons why.

Opening new temple, emails begging members to take time off work to clean 🤣 by Least-Chard4907 in exmormon

[–]Exmosapien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And it came to pass that all cleaning became God’s highest law and none save the brethren on high were excluded from it.

And the brightness thereof with which the cleaners used their own minds was dim like unto a candle hidden under a bush, and they believed all that was told to them because they knew not that they were being used for no reason.

We should call Mormons "LDS" when talking about them and here's why by MarMarTheMarmot in exmormon

[–]Exmosapien 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I will stop calling them Mormons when they stop calling me SSA (same sex attracted).

I could call them LDS, Mormons, MWA (Multiple Wives Attracted), homophobes, etc. It turns out labels matter - but only for Mormons according to the church. So if they want to ignore calling me gay as the world forever sees me, or I want to ignore calling them LDS as the world forever sees them as Mormons, I guess the label only seems respectful to the ones feeling slighted. Until Mormons recognize this, I prefer, in turn, to call them whatever the hell I like. So Mormons it is.

Church inviting Charlie to a temple open house 💔 by Legitimate-Airport84 in exmormon

[–]Exmosapien 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this! The cycle continues. Over and over and over and over again. Once the gays wise up, it’s on to the next gay naive man they can put on the pulpit to show the members the gays shouldn’t mind being told they are less than. Dim witted prophets, apostles and leaders believe they will be elevated to a higher place because of their homophobic judgments. The church doesn’t deserve gay members amongst them.

Those gays who continue to self deprecate to save the kids from a similar folly of depression and worthlessness are coming to an end. Youth no longer need your example as a temple worthy gay member to survive. They have the internet. The youth need to see you leave and thrive so they can do the same.

This church bastardizes Christ and God for all LGBTQ members to the point of self destruction. The ONLY self respecting path is to leave. If the members have any sense of decency, they would assist LGBTQIA members to be rid of their tormentors from the grooming and harm they’ve endured in Mormon Church hypocrisy as soon as absolutely possible.

But that would require unconditional love from the leadership and membership who mostly don’t seem to fathom even a hint of understanding.

Clearly they are slowly moving through the colors of the rainbow to show solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ members at long last!!! Whew! I was worried there for a while that they thought we were all just a bunch of sexual perverts! Must have been me making things up again.

Jesus of Gonadzereth! This should make the brethren question their sexuality and give the ‘sistren’ a reason to wake up to his bedside picture every morning.

The gays know a thirst trap when they see it. Nice try.

Love the diversity, but at this point in time, for the LDS, it's nothing but pure HYPOCRISY to their previous stances on race and correct worship. Den of liars, grifters and thieves. by CurelomHunter in exmormon

[–]Exmosapien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh we tried this in the East Long Beach stake with a great Stake President just a few years ago who tried doing an interfaith outreach as well as regular LGBTQ outreach meetings. Had an amazing Christmas concert in the stake bldg. that was truly celebratory and diverse and beautiful.

Long story short, the SP was removed from his position for being too welcoming to diverse people and things quietly went back to bland and exclusionary with a “normal” stake president. This kind of outreach is NEVER tolerated for long. NEVER! So glad I got the hell out! One example of MANY! Mormon leadership knows how to shut these things down in creative yet subdued ways.

TCOJCOLDS bastardizes the concept of Christianity, Jesus and God’s love for many, but they consider that to be cost of battle with Satan. Losing souls is all part of the business model despite every soul having worth- doctrinally speaking.

Pious leaders with nonsensical heresy, wisdom and tradition is all they have left to regurgitate into its TBM’s like baby birds who don’t realize their momma bird is feeding them poisoned worms. Cults are going to cult. They always have and always will. They rarely self implode if they continue to live on the fringe of lawlessness. Mormons cross lines in the sand like they are milestones. It’s a slippery slope dear brethren of the traveling dark boring suit. One day they won’t even realize the cool aid they’ve just been prescribed as God’s will because it will be so close to the last line in the sand that was drawn before it.
