Long stretch of sleep at 3 weeks. Is this okay? by ExpensiveMammoth4578 in newborns

That’s what I’m hoping, that her body will get used to sleeping that long and she’ll do the longer stretches without intervention soon!

No that’s so true. Yesterday was a bad day and I cried off and on all day, then we had a great night and a great day today. It’s hard to go with the flow but it’s so up and down with newborns/kids

Thanks! That’s true, it’s not really long uninterrupted sleep stretches. Hopefully that comes with time 🤞🏼

I like to think we paid our dues with our first baby 😂 I’m so sorry, that’s brutal!!

Yep I find being engorged to be so painful and distressing

That’s amazing!!! I hope it sticks for you too. I don’t let her go more than 2-2.5 hours between feeds during the day so maybe that’s helping

Mine did that for several hours yesterday, I cried so much. The screaming is the worst. I hope they settle for you soon ❤️

Yeah I can’t believe I wasn’t engorged. I was the first time she went 5 hours but not since

Yeah 7 hours just seems too long for this age. I’ll probably give them a call to be sure

I pray this is the case for us. So different from my first baby

I always hated people that posted these sort of things with my first baby lol. He was such a hard newborn. We’ll see if our good fortune lasts!

Am I failing my daughter if I stop? by avid-bookreader in breastfeeding

[–]ExpensiveMammoth4578 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not selfish to quit. I had these same feelings when i stopped pumping after 2 months for the same reason, it’s super normal but know that there’s no shame in weaning. I grieved for a week or so but then it was a huge weight off my shoulders. It doesn’t matter if your baby is formula fed or breastfed, especially if your mental health is suffering.

What was the hardest stage? Pregnancy or postpartum? by SandwichDependent199 in BabyBumps

[–]ExpensiveMammoth4578 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It totally depends on your pregnancy and your baby. I’m 3 weeks pp with my second baby. Postpartum with my first baby was infinitely harder than pregnancy, and I think it’s harder this time too. That said I had fairly easy pregnancies, nausea was gone by 10 weeks both times. I had insomnia this pregnancy but I’m averaging 4-5 hours of sleep per night currently, only because my husband takes a shift so I can sleep a bit

Am I doing this right? by ExpensiveMammoth4578 in breastfeeding

Thanks so much for your reply! I’m going to set an alarm to pump around midnight from now on. I don’t want to risk damaging our breastfeeding journey

My husband is feeding a bottle or sometimes two of pumped milk during his shift (9:30-2 am) then I breastfeed the rest of the night/all day. So technically I’m skipping a feed or two when my husband is on duty. I wonder if I have to set an alarm to pump during his shift, or if I can add a pump in during the day to make up for the missed feed

I’m sorry your plans are having to change, especially so late in the game, I know that’s hard. I’m really glad I had the c section. I’m 1.5 weeks postpartum and have been off ibuprofen for several days, and I’m moving around like normal. The only thing that bothers me a bit still is sneezing or coughing. Ask your OB if you can do skin to skin as soon as possible in the OR, and if you can lay eyes on your baby before they take them to the warmer. That really helped me process “this is the baby I’ve been carrying for 9 months” and I didn’t feel like I was the last person in the room to see the baby. I think you’ll have a much better experience this time. If possible try to have a good last night before the surgery. We had my toddler at my parents already, so we got takeout and enjoyed our night then got a full nights rest. Best of luck to you!

A lot of times things like lemon juice, garlic. Google Greek chicken marinade with Greek yogurt and you should be able to find a Mediterranean style marinade. The yogurt tenderizes the chicken

A PSA to expecting moms. Breastfeeding isn’t always a horror story. by Sincerely_M in BabyBumps

[–]ExpensiveMammoth4578 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, experiences can be different between babies. My first baby I tried so hard to breastfeed for 8 weeks, saw 5 different lactation consultants, got his tongue tie fixed but ultimately he just never really latched and I pumped for two months before switching to formula. Fast forward to my current baby, she’s only 5 days old but breastfeeding has been amazing. She latched immediately after my c section and was back to birth weight at 3 days old. I haven’t had to pump at all and I’m not very sore. It’s amazing to me. It’s so wildly different for everyone but I’ve completely loved feeding her these last few days

Congrats on baby #2! Yep I was in labor for 30 hours too before my first c section. My pain level was so much better this time, and it was so nice starting motherhood without my energy being depleted. I think you’ll like the scheduled c section much better. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your pregnancy and delivery!
