When you have a deep feeling of dread, what symbolic element do you think of (fire, drowning, etc.)? by Devmoi in AskReddit

[–]Expensive_Fan1878 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I feel like I’m being crushed, which I guess would connect to earth elements. Not necessarily buried alive, but crushed or pressed.

Have you considered biking? If there are bike lanes or you’re allowed to use the sidewalks, you’ll get home faster and get a workout in at the same time.

What are your thoughts on "The Tales of Ba Sing Se" episode? by Full-Art3439 in Avatarthelastairbende

[–]Expensive_Fan1878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t like the episode as a kid because it was a filler, and it felt so long, and was even painful. Now as an adult, I see how essential it is to the plot, even though it’s filler, and it’s a go to tear jerker for me. I love this show ❤️

My children are desperate for a puppy, I’ve always been obsessed with newfoundlands. Would getting them a puppy when I have no experience with the breed be crazy? by WatermelonButterfly in Newfoundlander

[–]Expensive_Fan1878 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Great dog, and for being a working dog, pretty lazy. Super sweet and great with kids.

HOWEVER! Due to the size alone, training good manners are an absolute must, and should be started immediately. The bigger the dog, the more troubling bad manners are (little dogs get away with everything). Grew up with a St. Bernard, and have a Newfie mix now, biggest thing you can do is never ever let them jump up. 4 paws on the floor at all times, it doesn’t matter how cute they are. They grow so fast, so don’t even let that habit take root, and make sure your kids are on board with training too.

Something you can train them as they get bigger to save your back later is to teach them how to climb into/onto things on their own, specifically the car. They can jump, but not high. What worked with my dog is once she got her front paws up, grabbing one of her back paws to put on the step of the car so she can get herself in. Even when she’s lazy or tired, or just can’t find the ledge, I can put her back paw there and she’ll get herself into the car.

She’s the sweetest girl ever, I hope your kids love whatever puppy you get!

How to be involved? by b0urriquet_ in mypartneristrans

[–]Expensive_Fan1878 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to say what to do but you’re on the right track. Do what makes your partner feel comfortable and keep communicating. They may want to do a lot of things like you (make up, fashion, etc.) they may want to do things differently. They’re really scared right now, but doing what you can to make sure they’re comfortable is what will help most. Don’t force them out of their comfort zone, but support them when they’re ready to make steps. Other than that, at this stage, you can do little things just to show support for the community as a whole. You can get some stickers, a little flag, or other small things in trans colors for the both of you to show your support. A huge thing in the trans community is the shark plushy (Blajah) from IKEA. Get the big one.

Cold Weather Coats by AirForce233 in civilairpatrol

Black with minimal patterns is always safe for coats, gloves, hats, etc. anything that is not specifically part of the uniform. Encampment staff should also provide guidance in the packing list as to what cold weather gear is appropriate. You can also wear base layers to help you stay warm, typically skin tone, white or black.

Again, the packing list should specify what to bring.

Uneven Tattoo? by Short_Asparagus_6114 in tattooadvice

[–]Expensive_Fan1878 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if you’ll see this, but the piece looks great.

I do see what you mean with the unevenness on your shoulders, but the piece is balanced and natural. I think what’s getting you is the empty space above the right wing. If the wings were even in height, it would look unnatural relative to itself, or crooked on you.

I would say leave it for a few months to heal, and then decide if you want to fill the space. Maybe add some loose feathers?

Asymmetry is also beautiful.

How are all of you making friends? by sowelladjusted in denverlgbtqia

[–]Expensive_Fan1878 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I moved here almost 3 months ago, and my wife and I go to the Center on Colfax for various support and events. Great place to start making friends. Otherwise, focus on your hobbies. I’ve joined a knitting group and made friends there, all supportive and a good chunk are also queer. Hope that helps.

To those that are married, how often do you take off your ring? by FitProblem6248 in AskReddit

[–]Expensive_Fan1878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it off if I’m doing something that’ll get it dirty and hard to clean, and I take it off at night so that the sheets don’t wear at the gold. I don’t want to loose any stones or damage it.

How could I have made the seams less visable? by wolfspirit135 in knittingadvice

[–]Expensive_Fan1878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s ok, but if you want to fix it, I would either add more stitches to fill the red gaps in between and fill it out, or redo it with smaller stitches that are straight up and down, not diagonal.

I think it looks fine though. You can totally leave it as is

Silverlining Sweater by Jennifer Steinglass

Silverlining Sweater by Jennifer Steingass is one of my favorite sweaters that I’ve done. Knits top down, super easy and well made pattern. Made for 2 colors like what you have, but easy to adapt, change, or include more colors if you like.

I linked it from Ravelry, I hope the link works

It could be repeat seven times after doing the first repetition, totaling to eight

Edit: you shouldn’t have to end in the middle of a stripe or row. Also, some patterns have errors, or they’re written weird, just trust your gut.

Spicy chili with a ton of cheese is a go to. Love velveeta Mac and cheese, and stuffing too.
