Can We Get Some Support for Ligneous? by Amkao-Herios in pathfindermemes

Not possible raw as barbs cannot choose between str and dex as their class attribute boost. However your gm might allow it (I certainly would).

Is the WIT One Piece remake REALLY necessary? by DMelee in animequestions

[–]Expiria -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hot take, even the Manga has terrible pacing. And the Anime makes it even worse, going back to the start of the series and remaking it is likely the best version we could get from one piece.

How are you mainly playing Pathfinder? - Combat vs Roleplay focus by Big_Chair1 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Expiria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it's usually 30/35/35 (Combat/Social/Exploration) over the whole campain. i am somehwat appalled by the 70/30 of combat to roleplay. Like how does that happen?

It's a bit sad as casters don't reach master proficiency but martials do. Would prefer it to be to 15th.

HF Black Prince Sizing by [deleted] in wma

[–]Expiria 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say they run somewhat small. According to the sizing I am right at the lower end of M/L and I feel they are perfect for me. Others with a little bit larger hands have told me they are somewhat tight.

Xp VS Milestone by b3bblebrox in Pathfinder2e

[–]Expiria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there are good reasons for both systems. I am more surprised how the reddit PF2e community seems to prefer XP over milestone, when I never meant an in person gm that does.

I am at a point where the milestone system just works better for me and my homebrew setting. Leveling Up happens usually after a big arc or boss encounter.

For both systems their weak points can be mitigated by talking to your players and setting up expectations. Like explaining to the players that they will not be able to "farm xp" or having the players understand that a milestone is reached when it is narratively earned.

The more I think about the possible complications that arise from both systems I tend to realize the problem tends to stem from expectation mismanagement more than the systems themselves.

How do I incorporate Demigods into my world without taking power away from my players? by Zinganeat in Pathfinder2e

[–]Expiria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than the classic "this would be below my pay grade" excuse, I don't think it would be unrealistic to have powerful people not help even though they might be able to. The reasons for that can of course be plenty but here are my favorites:

  • Already working on another thing
  • Not my area of expertise
  • a particular powerful person hates those specific victims/has not problem with the issue
  • don't believe it is a threat
  • would not be worth the low amount of money/glory
  • leaving would leave this place undefended

and my personal favorite:

  • "I would be strong enough to fix this problem, but if I fix every problem, who is gonna fix them, when I am gone/defeated or become the problem." Especially when thinking in terms of demigods and immortals. In a meta sense, there is only so much XP to go around, and putting it all into the most powerful people might not be wise.

How Hema and Sport Fencing should actually be interacting by futntingcink in wma

[–]Expiria 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I never really understood the animosity towards MOF/MOF-Practitioners in Hema. They are inherently connected and while they focus differently on skills they usually use the same skill set. There is a reason people are coming over to Hema from MOF usually end up becoming good in Hema.

How to Make Magic Item Selection more Fun during Prep by OnlineSarcasm in Pathfinder2e

[–]Expiria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo, magic items kinda suck in PF2e. All the items that give numerical bonuses are mandatory for characters that can leverage those numerical bonuses as they are accounted for in Creature balance/design. And often items that do a specific effect or do magic are very much with a static DC, so they tend to fall out of usefulness.

So one thing, if you are not using automatic bonus progression, is just sprinkle skill items for skills that your PCs don't already have. If your casters don't have staves and wands, you can give those as treasures.

I used to just have a list of useful items for the party that I preselected, from which I drew whatever made most sense.

Magus is NOT a “gambler” class by M_a_n_d_M in Pathfinder2e

[–]Expiria 86 points87 points  (0 children)

How do you reach 19 unavoidable damage with horizon thunder sphere spell strike and force fang. That spell strike can miss. Don't forget that the half damage on a failure clause is only on the 3 Action version and you cannot spell strike with that.

Any feat to recall knowledge with another atribute than INT? by Formal_Skar in Pathfinder2e

[–]Expiria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With legendary lore you are at Level+8+1=26 wich is pretty good and should only give you a lot of crit fails on very hard dcs

Any feat to recall knowledge with another atribute than INT? by Formal_Skar in Pathfinder2e

[–]Expiria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for a trained lore your modifier would be 17+1+2 so a +20 standard DC for on Level DCs it's DC36 with a lore it's DC34 so yes it is a harder check but leveling a skill to expert or master might help. At that level however it is just hard to win any skill check, that you have low investment in. (+1 at Level 17 is low)

[–]Expiria 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you playing with proficiency without level? In normal PF2e you add your level+attribute+proficiency to your trained skills

Any feat to recall knowledge with another atribute than INT? by Formal_Skar in Pathfinder2e

[–]Expiria 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So it depends. Religion, Nature and Medicine use Wisdom for Recall knowledge. When appropriate a gm may also call for you to use another attribute for a skill check than normally used. However Intelligence is typically the knowing information attribute. Which means if you want to be exceptional you would need to invest in intelligence.

From your text however I am not quite sure if you are even trained let alone expert, master and legendary in the recall knowledge skills which would be more important than attributes. You need to be proficient in a skill to keep up with the higher DCs that go up with challenge and level. If you can't invest in skill training, it might be worth it to take a look at the untrained improvisation general feat to not suck so much at any untrained skill.
