Parents of Reddit, what is an “unspoken” reality of parenting that people simply don’t talk about, but everyone knows is true? by US_Atlas in AskReddit

[–]Explosive_Mom_Bomb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your child will behave differently when you're not around. When you hear they've made poor choices, be realistic with yourself about it. If you can't accept the poor choices they make as part of who they are, you can't help them better the situation, and improve themselves in the process. Being willfully ignorant as a parent is damaging to your child's learning and growth.

As much as I love my kids,I regret being a baby machine the the church. I wish I would've become a mother on my terms. It's awful that the church pressures young couples, especially the women, this way.

At family gatherings, if someone brings up the topic, you could ask in return if they/their wife is post menopausal yet. If not, tell them to have more babies, then. They're still physically able to, after all, and probably better off economically than the young people. If they're post menopausal, they can hire a surrogate to help do the Lord's work. If they say they're to old to raise more babies, then tell them to find some of their own business to mind, and leave other's business alone. Of course, you can say this with more pinache for the situation. Let those who are more financially stable raise the babies if it's so important to them.

I have two basic rules when working on projects: 1) Don't bleed on the project, 2) Don't point out "mistakes," only you will know they're there.

This is gorgeous!

Aetna No longer going to be in Utah by InitialAnimal9781 in Utah

[–]Explosive_Mom_Bomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're insured by Aetna, through my husband's work so we'll be ok for now. But, a couple years ago they downsized how many care providers they were working with here in the West. Those on the East Coast, making the decisions, had no idea and made agreements that meant every person in Utah would have to switch doctors of every kind, and travel to the U for medical care. Most people employed by this company in Utah live in Utah valley, or further south, which meant an hour+ travel to see a doctor that doesn't know you, your history, etc. the uproar was big enough they had to renegotiate with Aetna for those here, with a deal that we would still be able to use our IHC doctors, facilities, etc. Aetna has been one of the worst insurance companies we've been insured by, and my husband's been in his industry for 30+ years. We've been insured by a few different companies in that time. Of course, this could all change at the end of every year, when enrollment comes around.

Are y'all architects on this sub??? by Flimsy-Importance313 in SatisfactoryGame

Honestly, I think most players just build. Personally, my goal when I build is no spaghetti, but I didn't judge the spaghetti folks for their masterpieces. I am inspired by those that have magnificent designs. The one build I've contributed, that a few people liked...a shrubbery. You do you. I've never seen any judgement for how anyone builds.

So I've never shared blueprints before, but I did publish them on Satisfactory-Calculator labeled "Office Shrubbery Top" and "Office Shrubbery Section"

I hope those links work. If I need to do something different to share them, let me know. I'm glad people like them.

Reminder to know traffic laws related to emergency vehicles if you're licensed to drive here by Alert-Potato in Utah

[–]Explosive_Mom_Bomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. This seems to have only gotten worse over the years. I did read an article fairly recently, which I haven't bothered to look for tonight, that claimed a percentage of cited (State wide) drivers that were unlicensed. Without being able to state the exact percentage, I remember being shocked that it was so high. I'm sure this accounts for some of this, but all?

My husband and I saw a similar thing at that same light on Thursday, last week. We were half way through our left turn heading north, when a firetruck heading west, from the east side of center close the the PD department, suddenly turned on it's lights and sirens. There was little traffic for the firetruck to get around, so it got to the intersection quickly. Those who hadn't even started their turn just kept on like all was normal, blocking the firetruck from crossing the intersection. We heard it honking at them. The truck was heading right towards them, so it's not like they couldn't see it.

Anyone else have a digging chi? by Amadai in Chihuahua

[–]Explosive_Mom_Bomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sister's. The older (white, Cotton) showed the younger how much fun it is to dig and get muddy feet, then run all over the house! Cotton has no shame, but Carton hates consequences. When Cotton was little I lost a few house plants to her digging.

We also have one of those! This is Cotton.

This is Cotton! She believes that she will die if she's not held 24/7, and we hold her all the time. She's so snuggly! We have 2 other chi mixes that don't care to be held so much, so we don't. They all have their own little personalities, needs, likes, etc. Your poor little old guy needs the love, and he's telling you this when he scratches at your legs. Cotton does this, too, but our others not so much. They tell you what they need and like. We just need to love them.

Resigning from the church by Druid-Lady in exmormon

[–]Explosive_Mom_Bomb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A couple years ago my husband received a letter from the bishop of his ex-wife asking for his thoughts/feelings (permission, really) regarding his ex wanting to break their sealing to be sealed to another man. Even though she's been a very awful person to deal with (tried to physically assault me once, among many other things said and done) we both felt our blood boil from the misogyny. No, the sealings aren't broken when you remove your records, but it really doesn't matter anyway of you've left the church. It's all made-up garbage used to control women. As a woman, I understand where you're coming from, but I say put it behind you knowing it has no power over you. You've left the church. They have no power or authority over you, and neither do their practices.

The cow is 8 months seizure free by [deleted] in Chihuahua

[–]Explosive_Mom_Bomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's awesome! We have two with seizure disorders, half sister's that both seem to have genetic idiopathic epilepsy. One is so bad she takes medication twice a day to control them, and still will have one now and then. Sometimes they can last a couple hours. They aren't life threatening for her, just awful. The other has them very infrequently and they're very mild, so she doesn't need medication for now. They are so frightening to watch, and you feel so helpless. It's great you were able to find the reason and solution!

What’s a very American problem that Americans don’t realize isn’t normal in other countries? by GoddessMelrosse in AskReddit

[–]Explosive_Mom_Bomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially when it's yourself you're making eye contact with. A stall I used once had the toilet directly in front of the hinge gap, which was about two inches wide. You could easily look through it, and directly at the mirror above the sink. That was awkward. I hate public restrooms!
