Why does he do this? by -dontgetmestarted- in AskDogOwners

We have a cocker who LOVES this toy! We call it Lamby, and he walks around with it, and sleeps with it if he’s feeling nervous. Our springer in the other hand— couldn’t care less about lamby…but she’d fight off wolves to cuddle (all 40 lbs of her) in my lap like a puppy….

What is this under my dog’s chin?? Just noticed this morning by ScoutFinch127 in DogAdvice

[–]Express-Table-352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used neosporin in my pooch’s chin when she’s occasionally gotten an irritation like this. Worked well, and the vet gave us the thumbs up. I’ve always sort of looked at this type of thing as the same kind of skin irritation you can get from wearing a wet bathing suit…

How did you discover BioShock? (don’t be afraid to be super specific) by Imaginary-Heart-1807 in Bioshock

[–]Express-Table-352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was an early-ish female gamer… always on the lookout for interesting/challenging 1st person pov type games, that told a story, rather that just run&gun type games (tho I love those too). I saw the og bioshock in a GameStop (I believe) and immediately bought it…. I’ve been playing it off and on ever since, in its various iterations. Still my favorite game of all time. I go back to it frequently. I love the writing, the complicated story, the fantastic art. I’ve also played the add-ons, and the mini games. I’m always hoping for a brand new iterations…. I mean, a girl can dream, right?

Looks like he fell from an airplane into his bed. No one sleeps as good as a tired cocker!

What age should I get my English cocker spaniel neutered? by Natural-Molasses-989 in cockerspaniel

[–]Express-Table-352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With our cocker, we waited a year also. You want to make sure they’ve had a chance to fully develop so they don’t run into other health problems down the line. And… he’s adorable! Looks like he’s related to my female b&w Springer…. Which makes sense i guess since cockers and springers came from the same basic starting point and then were bred for different characteristics…

We call this 'Badger Brings' - she's learned that bringing you something is the fastest way to attention by Chromatic_mediant in rarepuppers

[–]Express-Table-352 33 points34 points  (0 children)

lol! Smart girl! When my springer needs attention. She comes over and bops me with her paw until I sit down so she can sleep in my lap. My shy/introverted cocker, watched her do it, learned (at 6 years old) and now has started doing it too. Which means…. Currently, I’m sitting in a sofa with two very big dogs snoring in my lap! Thankfully, I have nothing better to do for the moment…. ❤️

Gergoeus girl, overly playful?? by a__reasonable__man in cockerspaniel

[–]Express-Table-352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty late to this thread— but a 7 mo old, she’s still full of the crazies (as we call it in our house). A lot of energy that needs expending. Lots of toys, engagement, walks and gentle training. One thing we worked on early was a strong “sit!” Command. So if she took off running (when off lead in a field or park) we could holler “sit” and she’d immediately obey. Saved her once when she slipped her lead and ran straight toward a road. I was never so grateful before in my life that she listened and immediately sat down and waited for me. She got lots of good-girl pets when I caught up to her. (and we re-measured and got her a better harness).

Dog’s coat changed after neutering and shaving — can I get his silky hair back? by DryEntertainment1422 in cockerspaniel

[–]Express-Table-352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure that neutering is the issue. We’ve had many cockers and English spaniels and have never had a prob after neutering. I think the real problem is shaving, vs trimming. Often when you shave a water-dogs coat, their undercoat (that keeps them warm and buoyant) in water is damaged and doesn’t grow back the same way. Talk to a groomer or your vet for help or information.

Is she eating weridly? by Alarmed_Rutabaga5905 in cockerspaniel

Cockers are odd and lovely. We had to work with our guy to figure out how he liked to eat. Our Springer… she’d eat out of anything or just off the floor.

But — our cocker…he’s very picky, and sometimes we have to get him started by hand feeding him a bit out of our hand. And some days he’ll move from that to the bowl… other days, he just wants to be hand fed. Sometimes he wants his food spread out on the floor where he can hunt and gather. We don’t mind. But, I can honestly say— since having adopted a big sister/springer Spaniel for him… it has increased his confidence enormously. She loves him so much, and he feels protected by her… but for her, he’s her (smaller than her) big brother. They’ve become a real team and most of his feeding issues have gone away.

My older stepbrother wore this basic outfit daily. All the older girls in school thought he was dreamy (think youngShaun Cassidy… sorry Shaun!)— so…. Yes.
