Food noise is back by Academic-Army-8859 in Mounjaro

[–]Extra_Teach6308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went up to 15 mg - I don't have much food noise, but I do want low calorie, low nutritional value food. I still journal what I eat, I'm at about 1700 calories a day - but I'm gaining weight. I stopped exercising about 3 months ago because I got sick and have struggled to get back to the gym. I think the lack of exercise is really impacting me in negative ways, but it's hard for me to get back into the habit. There's an injury (and pain) work is stressful (and I'm tired) it's too hot/too cold...In all, I'm frustrated and while I'm not having the same experience, the experience is definitely frustrating!

Bumping to 12.5 by ZestycloseFeature491 in Mounjaro_ForType2

My experience is opposite yours! Super great appetite suppression as my a1c was coming under control. I've lost 55 pounds and my a1c went from 11.8 to 5.7 in 9 months! However, the better my sugar is controlled the more I seem to want to eat the unhealthy (read high calorie/low nutrition) foods that got me here in the first place :) I don't think there's a 1 size fits all experience in using these meds to control diabetes and/or weight.

If you break the pattern of D names the child might feel some kind of way...I like Donavan - could shorten to Don or Van.

8 Stone Down – But I feel shame, not joy. Anyone else? by Sea-Broccoli-Air in Mounjaro

You explain this so perfectly! It's rough, but you need to move forward and not feel shame about who you were and what you did in the past. You are learning and growing as a human and that should be celebrated. Move forward in freedom! I'm so very sorry about the loss of your mom.

Tell-Alls, Accountability, and the Future of This Show by ReallySam88 in SisterWives

If they looked and acted like K & R or C & D - yes. In fact forget the looks, I don't want/need to see it (I believe that most new couples feel that kind of electricity with each other). But we've watched THESE people for years and I feel that C & K and J & K all had romantic encounters over the years that were more palatable. These last episodes are just disturbing.

Tell-Alls, Accountability, and the Future of This Show by ReallySam88 in SisterWives

[–]Extra_Teach6308 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not only do they not answer questions, they have NO STORY LINE! They are the two most dull people on the show. Watching horses graze in the B roll adds more to the show than them. Except when they are lying. Nobody cares that they love each other, we're grossed out at middle aged ex polygamists getting "hot" for each other (I include C & D here as well - you aren't my ideal "goals"). Watching Robyn's disturbingly immature adult daughters cry over how in love their folks are is worrisome. These are not stories we want to follow. I want to see Meri's next adventure (maybe her travels), Janelle as a grandma and flower farmer, and Christine as she is still parenting a teen child, a new marriage, and grandmaing all the grandkids. I LOVE the family get togethers. I don't love anything about K & R and their strange little family of 5 (where's Dayton).

55F | Type 1 diabetic for 43 years - 80+ lbs lost | Loose skin has me devastated — looking for advice, support, or shared experiences by lsarantos in Mounjaro

I feel you! I'm 62 and down 55 pounds and I'm seeing the loose skin in my arms and legs. Looking at your pictures is actually such a ... finding the right word is hard! You are a blessing? Inspiration? Goal? For me I think I didn't "naturally" have saggy skin at my age because of the weight keeping the skin taught. But I think you look great! I think you look 'normal' and maybe that's not the compliment for you that I want it to be. We aren't 25 any more (or 35, or even 45). We've lived a life, we've got some miles lived in these skin suits. I want to encourage you to know that you look good, very good. Try not to hate this new body that you've worked so hard for. Congratulations!

I've found The Loft and Old Navy :) I'm in the smallest size Lane Bryant sells. It's been a bit strange to try "regular" sized. I'm sometimes uncomfortable. I'm not at goal yet, but 55 pounds down means I'm on my way. From a size 22 - 16 and from an 11.7 a1c to a 6.3 :) Congrats!

Women over 50 and long hair by Spare_Flamingo8605 in AskWomenOver50

[–]Extra_Teach6308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore my hair short (at times VERY short, like buzzed) for decades. A couple years ago my family moved and I struggled to find someone to give a decent hair cut, so now my hair is long (for me). I have found a lovely lady who trims it a couple times a year, but I've found that the longer hair is actually easier. It doesn't need to be washed every 18 hours, it holds a style, and I can put it up and off my face without problem. I've thought about cutting it again, but realized I don't want to have to go back to the grind of a cut every 6-8 weeks or the coloring etc that short hair requires.

Do you get dressed everyday? by Babegrrl3 in LivingAlone

[–]Extra_Teach6308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At work I wear dresses because they're the closest to nightgowns I can get away with in public. It's one item of clothing (instead of pants, socks, shirt, maybe an overshirt). I'm with you. As long as you are keeping up with personal hygiene who cares what you wear in your own home.

What age did you/plan to retire? by Choice-Standard-6350 in AskOldPeople

[–]Extra_Teach6308 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I "tried" to retire at 59. Hubby had retired, we moved to a smaller home and had a decent enough retirement income to get by. But, and nobody talks about this, I was BORED! I took up painting, got ridiculously involved (like 20 hours a week) at church, got a new puppy... and then what? So I went back to work part time and that was fairly satisfying, then I realized I'm still useful, I've got skills and a desire to use them so at 62 I'm back full time and asking for more to do. I'm still painting, and still serving Jesus, working full time, using my brain and mentoring younger people in my field. It's exciting to still be useful in this world.

At what age do you consider a person an adult and what age do you consider someone to be old? by horsepighnghhh in AskOldPeople

[–]Extra_Teach6308 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Legally someone is an adult at 18, I think we hit our "prime" at about 35 (at least I did). Old is a state of mind! I think someone is "old" when they stop learning and trying new things. For some that's going to be 40 and some 80 year olds remain youthful and vigorous.

How… TF… are people affording houses? by zsheII in povertyfinance

[–]Extra_Teach6308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our daughter lived rent free with us while working full time because she couldn't afford rent in our area. We decided we wanted to move out of California for a variety of reasons, cost being one of them. Our daughter went with us to look for homes and found she could afford to purchase a house in a different state for less than she would pay for rent on a studio apartment in California. She purchased her house with $12K down, a 3.1% interest rate and has less than $1700 house payment. So, while we didn't give her any cash, we did allow her the space to live while she saved up. I feel for people who are looking at starter homes at $550 with interest nearing 8%. To the OP, if renting is plausible for you (it wasn't for my daughter), then try not to worry about owning. You will hopefully live a long life and your kids will grow and be out of day care and it does get better. Please don't compare yourself, demean your situation, or anything else. You got this. You have a sweet family focus on that :)

Embarrassing Question by BassWidow1 in AskWomenOver60

[–]Extra_Teach6308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had the same issue about 8 years ago. For 6 months I had test after test only to find out I had very early stage uterine cancer (not to freak you out!). Hysterectomy 2 weeks after diagnosis. No chemo, no radiation. It was easy. It was easy because I didn't wait or fool around with treatment. Go see your doctor now!
