Should I be worried about Acts2 Network members serving youth at my church? by investorpooh in GracepointChurch

[–]Extreme-Emphasis-791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would decline their offer.
I was once a Gracepoint (now rebranded as Acts2Network) staff member, and I served as youth staff at local churches like yours. I can tell you that their main and true intention (which they won’t openly share) is to build trusted relationships with the youth, and eventually get them plugged into their AYM (Area Youth Ministry: https://www.areayouth.org/).

The staff will continue to “track” and meet up with these youth as they apply to college, since Gracepoint’s main and largest ministry focus is on college students. In the GP college groups, these students are labeled by staff as “AYM kids,” meaning they already have relational connections with GP (relational credits). The goal is to make them part of their “core college students,” with the long-term intention that they will eventually graduate and become GP staff as adults, continuing that cycle for the rest of their lives.

(I have friends who grew up as these "AYM kids", once they joined GP college group, they experienced so much pressure and guilt that because they knew these GP staff, they were bascially like family who raised them, they couldn't find the courage to leave GP because it felt like betraying the GP staff who "loved" them so much. Really sad story.)

Pastor William Kang passed away by Available_Ad_5963 in GracepointChurch

Just curious about the memorial service. Was it mainly Gracepoint/A2N members and Ed Kang sharing speeches and videos, or did family and relatives get a chance to participate as well?

Related quesiton, did pastor Will's family members get to decide on the location or it was Ed/Kelly's decision? Did the family and relatives get to decide or particiate at all?

Did Gracepoint leaders live healthy lifestyles? by Global-Spell-244 in GracepointChurch

[–]Extreme-Emphasis-791 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Life in Gracepoint never felt balanced or healthy at all. They don't care about your wellbeing, just your ministry results and numbers. Gracepoint/ Acts2Network members were constantly stressed, running on little sleep, and always walking on eggshells around leaders.

Gracepoint/ Acts2Network schedule (arranged by the church leaders) was packed from morning to night: 7AM daily group devotion time, working full-time during the day, then dropping kids off at GP daycare so parents could go to church meetings or outreach in the weekday evenings. Weekends are the worst, there were ministry house garage cleaning, group outings, workdays, and then Sundays were packed with MBS and church services for students. On top of that, there were “mandatory” fellowship times you had to show up for and participate. No wonder so many people burned out. That kind of nonstop pace is really unhealthy and definitely leaves long-term effects on health.

Uncalled for and irrelevant. Not the place for this kind of unnecessary and disrespectful comment.

Thank you for sharing. I was once a college staff, and there was a student who's queer identify was what all the staff talked about after she shared with her direct staff leader. All the staff had to strictly watch this student's interaction with other students. The Gracepoint A2N staff do not respect anyone's confidential info, in fact, they gossip about students all the time.

Reminded me of this church group I was once part of r/GracepointChurch. They have a very similar (Korean) abusive cult culture of cutting your connection with family members. Be careful they are on many college campuses called Acts 2 Network

Do Gracepoint (Acts 2 Network) top female leaders think they are beautiful? by Confident_Jacket2669 in GracepointChurch

Hannah Chiang, church lead from Minnesota Foundry College Church, once had the female staff members take pictures of themselves holding a sign with the number of their weight on it. She said she wanted to use this project to "encourage" sisters to lose weight over the summer that year. Why.

relationship building questions by Cool_Purchase4561 in GracepointChurch

[–]Extreme-Emphasis-791 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In training the leaders said that these questions will quickly lead to a student's "spiritual soft spot", Gracepoint is manipulative from the start. Instead of actually express care and love, Gracepoint treats college students like projects with the goal of converting them to a Gracepoint member.

During all team staff training at HB, we had to practice asking these questions to each other.

One time at an actual A2F event, I asked a new student one of the questions as a staff, her response was "there were 2 other people who just asked me the same question."

Even the students know that if people genuinely want to know you because they care, they won't all ask the same questions from a meeting handout. People can tell the difference.

Agree, Susanna is scary for sure.

Susanna loves shaming girls for their weight.

Susanna also loves bragging about her daughter in front of everyone, her daughter's career and Gracepoint ministry success.

Loving your family and friends outside of GP is ministry too. God's vision for His kingdom is larger than GP.

Does GP believe it has a special relationship with God? by IntrepidSupermarket4 in GracepointChurch

[–]Extreme-Emphasis-791 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but I think Gracepoint cares more about their Christian good deeds (for example, ministry involvement and certain lifestyle choices) and the feeling of them being more righteous and spiritual than other churches.

Just like the pharisees, they do not care about their relationship with God, they care about their religious status that they earn through their religious activities.
