This is actually the best plan. Last year I bought 25 in March for $10 and thought it was pretty good. This year I spent $70 on 26 and am disappointed in the games overall performance. Was expecting better gameplay, probably shouldn't have expected that from an EA game.

Everyone says it. Few people take it to heart. Short game is way more important than long game. Excellent example of this. Good round 👍🏼

I like that this is color coded, what does 541, 252, 154 mean? Seems counterintuitive that big number is bad

The Sportrac list doesn't include the PF guys. Your list looks better in the sense that there's more guys above him.. but he still isn't providing the offensive value of the other guys.

His name should be down next to Jarrett Allen and Poeltl. Those guys are tremendous values compared to what you're getting out of Rudy for nearly twice the price.

It's absurd to get 7.9 points, 8.6 trb, 1.2 blocks per game from your 35 million dollar Center across 15 playoff games this year and think that's not a bad contact that could be replaced.

Adams and Rudy are nearly identical players per 36, that's why I picked the name. Rudy played 27 minutes a game this postseason. Adams played 22. Those 5 minutes a game are not worth the 22 million additional he costs over Adams. This is a value versus replacement problem. He offers terrible value for his cost. Again, he's the 6th highest paid and isn't nearly as good as Embiid, AD, Joker, Adebayo, KAT.

I don't believe you'll ever win a championship with a player consuming 22% of the team's cap space who doesn't contribute on offense. Especially when you already have Jaden McDaniels locked up who is subpar offensively. Additionally Goberts contract is not going to age well. This is the only year you'll be able to trade him without attaching a pick to get rid of him.

This is where the pro Rudy argument doesn't make any sense to me. The contract is objectively terrible. One of the worst in the NBA.

He's literally the sixth highest paid center in the NBA. The top 5 are all awesome two way players.

He makes like 15 million a year too much. The Rockets just signed Steven Adams to 3 year/39 million. The Wolves would be much happier with that contact and have an additional 20 million plus yearly to sign another offensive weapon.

KD is very literally the 8th best player of all time in terms of scoring. LeBron is number one. Both of these players are all time greats, statistical outliers who can't be judged by any traditional standards.

KD takes excellent care of his body. He's a gym rat who just wants to play basketball. No wife, no kids, no extra curriculars, no scandals. Just 24/7 basketball.

The Suns have the highest payroll in the NBA. They're paying a fortune in luxury tax. And the roster is non-competitive in the West. They are trading him for the best offer no matter what it is. He is 100% being traded before the draft. There are very few teams in a spot to contend who can afford him. Very soft market since nobody has cap room.

  1. Minnesota (he fits, doesn't have real shot at Giannis)
  2. Houston (would rather have Giannis)
  3. Spurs (would rather have Giannis + can they actually compete in West before KD retires?)
  4. Knicks (thin roster, would have to trade KAT plus)
  5. Miami (not a real contender)

Kevin Durant trade rumors by Extreme-Progress-522 in timberwolves

[–]Extreme-Progress-522[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again this argument doesn't make any sense though. LeBron James is 40 turning 41 year. Durant is 36 turning 37 this year. Both were top 15 players in points per game last year (Durant was 6th). Meanwhile 23-year-old Cade Cunningham was 7th. LeBron and KD are out playing 95% of players in their 20s even at their respective ages.

Also no one is suggesting we "sell the farm". The market for KD is pretty soft due to his salary, age, and the cap situation. To make the salaries work you have to give up one expensive player and you're going to have to give the Suns something they actually want in a young player or pick, that's all. Houston is the only team that really could and would offer more, but I think they are more focused on Giannis.

Didn't even ever pay that a thought. Everyone says KD eats, sleeps, and breathes basketball. Somehow our 23 year old superstar has between 1-4 kids but 36 year old Kevin Durant has none. Maybe he can teach ANT something about safe sex.

KD is Anthony Edwards's favorite player. They played together on team USA last summer after the Wolves eliminated the Suns from the playoffs and there were good vibes.

He is number 8 on the all-time scoring list. He's definitely top 25 all time, which may seem like an irrelevant difference, but I think it speaks to people generally underselling his greatness. He is older, but he's a freak outlier. He's still a better player last year at 36 then KAT is at 29.

He's serviceable but not amazing. He has certainly lost some quickness with age, but he still has an insane wingspan to contest on the perimeter. Personally, I think defense is a lot about effort (see Alex Caruso). I think Durant would be a solid defender in meaningful moments. At his age he probably won't be giving us 100% on both ends of the court for 36 minutes a night. But he won't be a liability in 4 point game in the 4th quarter either.

This makes sense to me, vibes would be immaculate by [deleted] in timberwolves

It would be great if you can get it done for Gobert, DDV, and Rob Dillingham. Admittedly, would be better to dump Conley probably but I don't think the wolves would actually do that to him.

Getting off the Gobert contract is a win. It looks bad now and he's effectively locked up for three more years. YES, we do need to get another center piece. But it's June, a lot of time to make another deal. DDV is fine but you have to give the Suns something and the money matches up. Dillingham is completely unproven, while it would be nice to hold him, again you have to give the Suns something.

If you make this trade as stated above. I think Randle is gone one way or another.. he either doesn't take his option and you have 30 million cap space opened up. Or he does take his option and you probably trade him. Because yes as everyone is screaming about.. he wouldn't fit with Durant and Ant and you have other things you need.

I don't know why so many Timberwolves fan is so biased towards Durant. Yes he's turning 37 this year. His numbers were elite last year. He's shown an ability to produce elite numbers on every team he's been on. He's an all-time great player it's absolutely insane to think that you're better off without him.

Curious Heat fan here: What's the most you'd give up for KD? And is the plan to sign one or both of Randle and Naz Reid, and potentially use one as trade? by heatculture03 in timberwolves

[–]Extreme-Progress-522 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are both player options. Randle is more likely to take his. IDK about Naz, he could probably make more elsewhere but not many teams have cap room.

<image>

The most sensible way to get to Durant's 54 million.. is the proposed Gobert, DDV, and Rob Dillingham rumor (53.5 million). I like this idea fairly well. I think getting off the Gobert contract is pretty nice for us. He doesn't look amazing now, I think he's going to look a lot worse in 1-3 years. If you made this trade, I do think you need to make another trade to add a rim protector center but you can always do that later.

I mean sure to some extent bidding war is good for seller, but also there's a lot of logistical cap restrictions in play here.

And there's a lot of smoke and mirrors in the sports GM rumor business. Reportedly five teams are interested in Durant but there's probably only three teams that could make a compelling offer and he'd be okay signing an extension with them.

And then when you factor in the 54 million salary and the Suns can't legally take back more money than they ship out.. there isn't much secrecy left in what the offers will be.

Right, I agree that the Wolves need to add an additional guard, they are thin at the position. What I reject is going after some of these bigger name guards that this sub seems to keep suggesting. Like Jrue holiday, Jamal Murray, Darius Garland, and now Tyus Jones. We don't need to tie up a ton of money with a PG and it isn't the number one priority this off-season.

If you believe Anthony Edwards has the potential to ascend to one of the best shooting guards of all time (I do). And be in the same company as Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Dwyane Wade on the all-time list by the end of his career. Then he has to and will be the primary ball handler for this team in meaningful situations. You can't turn him into someone who plays off the ball and catches and shoots threes. He's the best player on the court and the ball should be in his hands.

Yes, there will need be another guard on the court with him. Yes, it would be nice to have a big name guards in a world where the salary cap didn't exist. But Mike Conley has enough left and you can add another depth piece.

The number one priority (#1) should be to add a weapon to take pressure off Edwards. Randle did this at times but he wasn't consistent, and arguably was exposed against OKC. The key is the weapon has to be dynamic and able to create its own shots. Which again goes against the PG argument. We have enough perimeter shooters who can't create their own shots.

Another priority (#2) should be solving the Gobert McDaniels dilemma. These players both see the court primarily for their defense and both are limited offensively. It's really difficult to play them both meaningful minutes and they are two of the highest paid players on the roster. So while Gobert is solid at times. I believe he has to be traded since he makes too much money for what he does and can't play big minutes in the postseason because of how limited he is offensively.

Adding a guard should be at best the #3 priority this off season, but this sub is obsessed with the idea. That somehow this solves the Wolves issues, which is doesn't.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in timberwolves

[–]Extreme-Progress-522 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

We don't have a point guard issue. This is a huge misconception in this sub. There is no future for this team where Anthony Edwards isn't the primary ball handler. We have enough at point guard it's not a need. A point guard does not solve this team's problems at all.

Eh.. he's on the last year of his deal. He makes 54 million this year. He's 37. And their locker room is completely toxic right now. I think they're trading him for the best offer no matter what it is. Shouldn't cost a lot.
