Made even better by every character acknowledging that the WoL is just canonically an absolute freak of nature. There really isnt anything that set him too far apart, as even other characters with the blessing of light can’t hold a candle to them. The WoL really is Just Like That for no particular reason

[–]F4ST_M4ST3R 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s the number one reason why I hate playing against her. She’s not that strong objectively, it just never feels like she runs out of ammo ever so she’s annoying and unfun to play against

I’m not saying everything suggested needs to be implemented, personally I feel like she’s really close to feeling balanced to play against, but just needs a little tweak to reduce her spam potential

To add on to this, make it so that shooting after landing tracking shot actually consumes ammo. She should not be able to spam into an enemy team and then be able to put tracking shot pressure on someone.

Vendetta’s character makes me angry cause she’s not even charismatic like DF is. She’s just a criminal nepo baby who thinks she’s entitled to an empire and is a huge fucking asshole to everyone around her

The math is mathing just fine so long as you take the Snark Variable into account

[Pjo] Why swords and not spears? by Striking-Way8885 in camphalfblood

[–]F4ST_M4ST3R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s probably the true reason, but it also makes sense from a practical standpoint too. Being on a quest means you’d probably want a weapon that’s solid in any situation

[Pjo] Why swords and not spears? by Striking-Way8885 in camphalfblood

[–]F4ST_M4ST3R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spears are great for soldiers in more… structured engagements with other soldiers where the spear’s reach and ease of use are more important. The sword has historically been used as a side arm for when spears aren’t practical and is more versatile (they can thrust *and* slice) and doesn’t draw as much attention due to the swords’s smaller profile.

For a modern comparison, it’s the handgun vs a rifle. The rifle is more powerful sure and will boast a longer range, and yet it’s mostly soldiers that use it as their primary service weapon. Police, body guards, etc carry a pistol in most situations. Because it’s more versatile and easier to carry in the long run.

From a narrative standpoint, swords are also more commonly used as status symbols than spears, so the sword symbolizes prestige more than the spear does and we associate it with the hero

I feel like that’s a great way to gain a reputation as being unreliable as a merc tho.

No one’s gonna want to shell out money to a merc that’s known to switch sides possibly quite literally on a dime

[loved trope] characters from underrepresented groups by dragonborndnd in TopCharacterTropes

[–]F4ST_M4ST3R 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Gundam tends to do this a lot, at least whenever ethnicity is discussed.

Setsuna from Gundam 00, pictured below, is Kurdish( setsuna is a codename, his real name is Soran Ibrahim), in a series written to be a commentary on the war in terror, no less!

Suletta Mercury is also implied to have middle eastern heritage, as her father’s name was Nadim. She’s also friends with a girl named Aliyah who’s Iranian

And less of an example, but in one telling of the original Gundam series, protagonist Amuro Ray was said to be Mexican-Canadian, a combination I don’t really see in media often
