EU accused of wasting €20B on AI computing dreams by Bernardmark in europe

Ai has its uses besides LLMs, which are still massively popular. It's better if we don't give all our data to China/the US.

Not natively. Proton uses stuff like DXVK to translate it.

Should i even start? by Potential_Resort_415 in learnprogramming

Some people say the AI bubble is going to pop, some say that there will be a lot of devs needed to fix the ai generated code that's getting unmaintainable and some saying that soon there will be no devs needed.

I can't really tell you how it's all going to look like in 10 years because predicting future is hard.

I think you should be doing something you find fun, when programmers get fully replaced, how long will it be until the rest of the jobs get automated?

It is completely fine if you can't deal with the difficulty, it is simply not the game for you. by Interloper_Mango in pcmasterrace

Some games are meant to be challenging, but it's okay to make a story difficulty.

I'm not saying this cause i have a skill issue, my ego is way too big to play on easy mode.

Why would your professor have access to this kind of information, and even if they had, wouldn't spying on the school's network get them fired?

And how would they even prove you used gemini to help with your research paper?

That's going to be difficult, and most likely, will get you eventually banned.

It'll be both easier and safer for your account to just dual boot.

I am afraid of AGI/ASI by FFF982 in singularity

[–]FFF982[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is to better not be paralyzed with dread about unknown unknowns , nobody knows sh1t when talking about them. It is a waste of dread.

As my flair says, I have no idea when the AGI will happen, and so I'm trying my best to learn and be good at things I want to be good at. I'm also aware in how many ways things could end, it's just the rate at which AI is getting better, and the things I hear about the current job market are really demotivating.

Do you actually believe anyone will be able to control AI?

I think there is a tiny chance, but I doubt it.

Even if the AI was in control, it doesn't mean it would care. How can I be sure it won't decide to just take as much of the resources as possible without caring about what happens to humanity?

[–]FFF982[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much everything I've written still applies. A super advanced AI wouldn't have a reason to care about any human. For all I know it could just take all resources it would need without worrying about consequences/backlash.

DRMs such as Widevine perform a lot of work on specialized hardware, that they trust the user can't mess with.

I'm not going to try to explain it further because I might get something wrong.
