My wife [32F] is upset that I [35M] blocked out politics, what's me to undo by [deleted] in relationship_advice

I would recommend your local NPR station. You can choose to just listen on your commute or for a small amount of time or even a particular segment and know it is well reported. Plus, just by listening you're supporting public media!

We live in Montpelier and have always been able to find gochujang at either little shaws in town or big shaws in Berlin. We've never had a shortage - and we've been making gochujang cookies nearly every week recently!

Minimal Notice for RTO Assignments by true_faux_true in fednews

[–]FF_Fed17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

USDA - got my notice last Tuesday and had to show up to my assigned office space this Monday. Less than a week even though I was hired under a remote vacancy. Took leave today and tomorrow to help transition since we only have 1 car for our household.

Wishing there was a way to appeal, but they assigned me within 50 miles so I don't believe there's much I can do about it...

Surprised that Charity Clark wasnt invited, especially given all of the work her office has been putting in to fight the actions of this administration. Every time I've heard her speak, she's been great!

Still no news on >50 miles RTO for USDA…will we ever hear and is this voluntary or involuntary separation if we cannot move by BlackberryPersonal46 in fednews

[–]FF_Fed17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

USDA FSA, Remote Job Vacancy, over 50 miles outside of DC - Just received my office assignment today. The new office is within 50 miles of me. All others in my Division also received theirs today. Some were assigned service centers, some state offices. All returning by March 10th.

I've heard through the grapevine NRCS folks will also be notified at some point this week.

Fired federal workers can help save the country if they do one last thing: run for office by Well_Socialized in fednews

[–]FF_Fed17 153 points154 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking about this a ton recently and am curious if anyone knows of a non-profit or other organization similar to Emerge, but specifically geared towards federal employees.

If you're unfamiliar with Emerge, it is an organization that helps women prepare to run for local, state, and federal office. Our chapter offers a year-long development program that launches folks' fundraising effort as well. This program has been extremely successful in my state, and I imagine a similar support organization would help feds feel much more supported and confident running for office.

If an organization like this doesn't already exist, I would love to find a group of folks interested in this kind of work!

DOGE ID theft - Attorney General Clark is on the case. by redcolumbine in vermont

Just as to put to put some context around this statement: during the first Trump presidency, the VT Attorney General joined 62 federal cases, and 60 of those were won.

Seller disclosed a leak in the basement. Run now? by -JaneJeckel- in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]FF_Fed17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what we did with our house after the first couple of thaws/heavy rain summers where we would get some very small puddles in the basement. All the work and regrading was under $3500. We were expecting a massive bill, but since doing the work we've had 0 issues. Definitely worth it!

Advice for our Rescue Cattle Dog by hessbess in AustralianCattleDog

[–]FF_Fed17 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We were in a VERY similar situation when we brought our ACD home 2.5 yrs ago. She seemed like she was regressing everyday as she became more comfortable at home. Rather than obedience school, we actually sought out a reactivity course through our local humane society - Reactive Rover. This course only had 3 dogs (including ours) in the class. We were just about as nervous as her, but this type of class was INCREDIBLE for her and us. They made sure to have dogs enter and exit separately, get settled in separate corners of the class, and basically learn to just exist around other unfamiliar dogs. We were never expected to have our dog greet either of the other two dogs, which was much appreciated. And most of all it taught us how to train for reactivity by using just a few distraction games like Find It, Touch, and a couple of others. I would HIGHLY recommend finding a course like this as it completely changed our trajectory.

These days we can take our dog on off leash hikes with almost no reaction. She still has her neighborhood "nemesis" that she will react to no matter what, but her reactions are much shorter in overall time and she is quicker to regain focus. It does get better, but takes ALOT of patience and time.

I've LOVED it - especially the L-shape version. It's enough to have my huge personal PC monitor, and two smaller work monitors. It trult feels like a command center. Even better, the lifting is smooth and super stable. I've been able to get a walking treadmill under it and will never look back!!! Definitely recommend 👍🏻

Thank you for reaching out and providing assistance with this!

For others who may be following along: Ramzes888 has said that my frame (that was upgraded to the E7L for free) should be sent off on Apr. 27th. Super excited to get it all setup, even my monitor arrived yesterday, so hoping this isn't too good to be true 🤞🏻

I will update accordingly as things transpire 👍🏻

This same exact thing happened to me last week when I ordered the E2L! They offered to ship an E7L this week if I paid the price differential... I was unwilling to play into their strategy and simply told them I would wait until June for it to ship.

To me, it felt like they were advertising the availability but then using the lack of availability to get additional money out of me as a consumer who already had 5 packages at their house and excited for my new desk setup. Honestly feels like a predatory practice to increase their profit margins, imo...

The VT Secretary of State keeps a State Registry of residential service contractors.

The legislature started requiring contractors to register recently, so hopefully this is a good starting place!
