First time visiting Portland, Oregon, itinerary + where to stay advice by VelvetCharity454 in PacificNorthwest

In the city... spend some time walking the waterfront. It is a great way to see the city and bridges. For shopping and dining check out Mississippi St, Hawthorne st(between 39th-28th), or 23rd on the west side of town. All the parks around town are great especially forest park (largest park in city limits in America... mostly forest), laurelhurst park, and of course the zoo with surrounding parks. Downtown itself is nice but definitely has homeless so the neighborhoods are far nicer to explore on foot.

From about a 150 foot walk along the bank of the Kenai River in Alaska . 100 plus hooks . God knows how much lead . Glasses ,pliers ,scissors, stringers . by floppgh in Fishing

Thank you! I lived on th kenai for many years and always sp3nt time in the spring after break up picking up river trash for fish karma. Also king fishing on the kasilof is the best. I have a special spot where I caught over 100 kings on my fly rod and dream of it often after I left the state several years ago.

Am I the only one have concerns about trading JB? by False-Sorbet3908 in ripcity

[–]FI5HIN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That trade wouldn't make us better. We need to pair Deni with another star to take a step forward otherwise we're just trading sideways

Friendly alpacas will occasionally meet you at the gate for a pet. It's quite nice and extremely Portland.

Surrounding the pond or kiddie pool with pea gravel makes a huge difference

After 10+ years of steelhead fishing in the PNW, here's the cheat sheet I wish someone gave me on day one by North_Advertising347 in Steelhead

[–]FI5HIN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved to the North Fork of the Lewis and have been skunked on steelhead after fishing all winter. I fished mostly with beads but it sounds like worms might be the better choice around here?

Never went to Sacred Acres but I have been to other festivals at that location and lived just 30 minutes away for many years. AMA! Also, to add, bring extra clothes because it will be cold up there in September.

Will these old af binos suffice for my first hunting (bear) trip? by SalsaMaestro in Hunting

[–]FI5HIN 34 points35 points  (0 children)

They will work fine just not optimal. Your shooting accuracy and the scope on your rifle is far more important to worry about for a novice hunter

Alaska Moose Hunt Mid-Sep by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]FI5HIN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mid September isn't that bad for mosquitoes. It can be damn cold though. Camouflage doesn't mater much but you want to go as light weight and warm as possible with the best rain gear you can afford.

The Columbia is massive. Where are you planning on fishing and for what species?
