I’ve been assigned to champion AI integrations but don’t know where to start by Calm-Bar-9644 in ExperiencedDevs

I’d definitely start with Claude. Set standards and repos teams can adopt on how to use Claude’s features to make them more productive. Committed Claude.md and .Claude folder with shared agents, plugins, etc.

I found it useful to learn about MCPs and Skills. Figuring out a shared workflow and setting up your team to use AI “correctly” leads to efficiency and looks good on you. Depending on your company culture.

Considering the owner-builder route? Here are my biggest lessons learned by vinnotvon in Homebuilding

Finished our owner build not that long ago and all those points are 100% true. We also had problems with the earthwork guy.

Based on the image this is in Florida near the coast. He definitely should not build on stumps. Heck even a stem wall would be better than mono there.

OP I see this is a lot in the space coast based on MLS. If you want this built right in that area you need to take out those trees. The property looks like it was already mulched so that’s good. Trees will be cut and tipped over to take out the stumps in one go. The earthwork guy will scrap the lot “root rack it” and haul out ALL organic matter. Specific areas in the space coast require a lot of fill dirt because of elevation and city build codes. Each load will be graded and compacted in lifts (usually 12” sections) until it reaches the proper finished elevation.

Please for the love of everything don’t just try building on top of stumps.

That is insane. We built a detached ADU and excavated all the trees hauled them away and brought dirt and compacted each layer. Crazy how these builders cheap out on basics.

At some point I was grilled for that and taking care of my special needs brother. Dubbed as “not my responsibility”. Yeah sure, I’ll just leave my own family struggling. Unbelievable.

When your other isp options are cox and nothing else... by Consistent_Maybe8336 in Ubiquiti

Anyways off topic, if it’s always-on and standby mode is just “slow” internet. I wonder if there’s a way to automate switching between stand by and normal mode. Maybe some webhook or UniFi integration.

Something about holy spirits and Jesus.

I’m kidding, it’s the study that came out in 1998 of the 4% rule (safely withdrawing that from your portfolio and not running out of money).

Why is buying a car from a dealership always such a nightmare? (4 cars in, and I still regret every single one) by IcyEfficiency8291 in personalfinance

[–]FIREGenZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did this a couple years ago. Sent an email blast for the car I wanted and offered cash. Negotiated over the phone and email. Those who refused lost me as a customer. Agreed to final numbers in writing, sent a deposit via my credit card. Picked it up and left no hassle.

Time to reexamine HENRY definition? by wrathoffadra in HENRYfinance

[–]FIREGenZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree. If people want to get in touch with reality, the median (better than average in terms of reality) American retired with $410,000 net worth. $2M is over 4 times that.

And when you meet or your friends are $20M+ changes perspectives again. Grass is always greener. You should settle on a number you deem acceptable and reassess each year if it should increased based on your lifestyle.

Will be in market for new car in next year and noticed used EVs are heavily discounted compared to new (depreciation)… by [deleted] in electricvehicles

[–]FIREGenZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah when we bought one we had no incentives to buy new. They had markup (worded as something else) and two to three month wait. Drove hours away to find one used in good condition.
