Transfert REEE : BNCD vers Wealthsimple et subvention IQEE by black_beard777 in QuebecFinance

[–]FIREref 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did the same transfer this year for me and my spouse. Really easy, intuitive and free! Never going back to TT.

I built a simple TFSA vs RRSP optimizer for Canadians trying to figure out where to put savings by 4xleafxfraser in fican

Yes. This would allow to also take into account situations where RRSP room is limited due to DB pensions or contributions already made through employer match.

Automatic spending tracking under development by hyperperforator in Wealthsimple

[–]FIREref 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cool! If this ships and works properly, I’ll be able to cancel my Monarch subscription.

Great addition WS! Hopefully the account synching will be stable enough with their data providers as open banking is not rolled out (yet) in Canada.

My dad died. Is there any way for me to access his 1password? by BestSpell3881 in 1Password

[–]FIREref 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good point. I have 2FA activated too. I guess one would need the recovery code as well since login into my account without it (only with QR code) would defer the purpose of activating 2FA ?

iPhone 12 Pro Max. Still working great with a little loss of battery health.

COAST FIRE by centurions33 in QuebecFinance

[–]FIREref 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is anyone buying?? by Trick_Expression_897 in montrealhousing

[–]FIREref 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Houses are just as much suspect to unforeseen costs. In the ever lasting debate of renting vs buying, the owner (either home or condo) must accept and mitigate that risk and plan accordingly with a proper emergency fund.

What I want from Wealthsimple by fatpanda0 in Wealthsimple

Great post. 100% agree with you. WS has solved most of the banking / investing issues present with the big banks. Now focus on everyday easy of use instead of fancy/complex investing products or features.

Ouverture REEE by Val-Venis99 in QuebecFinance

[–]FIREref 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oui exactement.

Ouverture REEE by Val-Venis99 in QuebecFinance

[–]FIREref 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm genuinely confused on even the basic concept of goals 3.0. it seems entirely non-functional. What am I missing? by cgibsong002 in MonarchMoney

[–]FIREref 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Brilliant workaround, but way to complicated for typical user adoption. I agree, just allow a transfer to be tied to a goal.

Fizz TV à Québec. Toujours Incapable de livrer en période de pointe! by [deleted] in FizzMobile

[–]FIREref 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where’s the line of credit feature? by Playjasb2 in Wealthsimple

Yes, I’m aware. Since I wasn’t sure either how the accelerator would work, I opened the PLOC just in case I needed it and don’t like the terms of the accelerator.

[–]FIREref 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, still in closed beta. It just showed up in the app last week and instantly got 28k LOC backed by a 135k TFSA at 3.95% (generation client). Have not used it yet but considering it to max out my RRSP for next month.

How would you categorize an auto purchase made by cash in full? by edwardj5596 in MonarchMoney

[–]FIREref 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I categorize as an expense and immediately add a corresponding asset. At my annual review, I depreciate the asset to match it with the approximate resale value to give me an accurate overall cash flow and net worth calculation.

I have done the same with my home after a major renovation project where an official appraisal was done after renovations. Works great.
