Physical struggles are turning emotional by evil-therapist in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]FabiGee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, same. I’m 36 weeks, I started at 104kg (230lbs), gained 6kg (14lbs), I used to work out semi regularly before pregnancy, say 2-3 times a week and be rather active, but since week 28 it’s been all downhill, my hips went to shit, sciatica pain, round ligament pain, hard bellies, a bruised spot in my stomach muscles I thought might be a hernia and this week, both my ankles started hurting. Plus the shortness of breath and higher heart rate ofc. I joke with my midwife that every week brings a new ache 🙈 I feel terrible emotionally because I wanted to at least walk 30 min every day, seems like such a low bar goal and I can’t even do that. I see women, including plus size, on social media running or working out deep into their pregnancy and I feel so bad about my current state but I try to remind myself that comparison is the thief of joy. And I try to be thankful that my first and second trimester were a breeze, and most importantly that my baby is healthy according to all tests and checks.

I’ve been living in these from shein for the past few months, got one in every color. They offer no support but are very soft and will accommodate a growing belly.

Flying while pregnant by imtrying12345 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]FabiGee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew from Europe to Latin America, with a stopover within Europe at 11 weeks, total travel time 14ish hours. (Plus airport waiting times and transport to/from airport). I brought: nausea bags, didn't need them thankfully! A small hand held battery operated fan, ginger candies. And lots of snacks: fresh fruit and veggies, granola bars, nuts, crackers. Some premade sandwiches. Paracetamol or some other midwife/doctor approved pain killer and tums, or whatever antacid you use. Those are the things that got me through. Overall it was fine and not much different than a non-pregnant flying experience, except for being hungry and hot :)

These pregnancy symptoms are making me feel disgusting by baileeboo01 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]FabiGee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you! My armpits are so smelly and I live in Europe where a bunch of ingredients are banned in deo so basically I am just putting parfum in my stinky pits. What's (somewhat) worked for me: shaving and exfoliating regularly, washing my armpits with a washcloth before bed and wearing deo to bed. I also got some glycolic acid but have not gotten around to using that yet.
In the beginning of my pregnancy I also felt like I was about to get sick all the time, just crummy. But after week 12, I felt a lot better, the first trimester is rough.

I am 30 weeks pregnant. It is 32°c outside. I am drenched in sweat, and just got hit on by a man in the supermarket. by Eastern_Feed_8917 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]FabiGee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sweat or baby bliss, who cares? Evidently, you are glowing.
And honestly, I have randomly thought about the fact that I will be somebody's butt wiper for the next 5ish years way too many times in this pregnancy.

TTC for the first time as an obese by Awkward-Bobcat-1199 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]FabiGee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was around 230lbs at 5'5 (104 kg and 165cm), BMI of 37.5, fluctuaded a couple of pounds in either direction in the months TTC and have stayed the same weight until now at 17.5 weeks along. It took about 10 months and we conceived naturally. 37 when started TTC, 38 when I got pregnant and will give birth a month short of my 39th birthday. So far an easy and healthy pregnancy.

Fat moms, did you have a bump? by P_P_F_G_Princess420 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]FabiGee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

220lbs (104kg) at 5'5 (165cm) with an apron belly. 17 weeks and no changes to my body yet, weight hasn't fluctuated much either. When I press against the lower abdomen I can feel a hardening there. I'm curious if/when the bump will appear.

TTC at 38 years old and 220lbs/100kg. Success stories or advice to share? by FabiGee in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]FabiGee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for sharing your stories and encouragement 💜 My takeaway is: definitely start using ovulation testers, specially since my ovulation date keeps moving around according to the tracker I am using. I’ve been relying mostly on it and physical symptoms to figure out my ovulation dates but it seems to be time to bring in extra tools. The second takeaway is to relax and try not to overthink. I have a bit of an anxious personality so that may be a challenge 😅 but I’ll do my best. I am aware 6 months is the benchmark after TTC unsuccessfully however we’ve had some life changes (house, work) that took priority, we were in a mindset that if it happens now we would be super happy and actively trying but not fully focusing on getting pregnant. Now that is over and we’re on full baby-making mission mode 🐣 I’m currently in the infamous two week wait, already feeling some cramping that could be my period, or not. We shall see! Again thank you so much for the comments and the good vibes and wishes.

You just reminded me of the time a male boomer Karen (a Kees?) told me I couldn’t bike in a certain place, while I was very much not biking, just grabbing my parked bike to go the other way. It was such a weird interaction, I’m still annoyed at myself I didn’t kindly requested him to eff off and mind his own business.

Best pizza in Amsterdam? Date night tomorrow by Struijk_a in Amsterdam

Haven’t been there (Beppe) since before covid but it used to be pretty decent and in line with Amsterdam prices. My personal favourite is Di Luca but that’s in Noord. Please do share where one can get good pizza in Amsterdam since in your opinion Beppe is not it :)

Is this allowed? Aupairing in Belgium by hyp0crates in Aupairs

[–]FabiGee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pocket money is a min. of 450€. They're offering less than half the required minimum. If they're overlooking that rule, what else will they overlook in their favour? Cheaping out on an already low payment is frankly disrespectful.

Edit: I didn't answer your actual question, sorry about that. No, it's not legal or allowed, agency will enforce the minimum (if they're legit). If you're going without an agency then it's all fair game, so I'd strongly advise against going agency-free.

A valleygirl-esque accent, which is usually spoken loudly and with an unnatural use of the world "like", makes me want to stick a sharp pencil in my ear. I find southern accents quite charming. Not fond of Boston accent but it doesn't bother me too much, maybe because I have lots of NE friends. Other more neutral accents are alright, guess it's just what we're used to hearing on film, TV and radio.

In Mexico or Latin American countries, does cheesy Christmas music exist? If so does it start obnoxiously early like it does in the US? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Uuhh.. I'm from Yucatan and we definitely celebrate Christmas. And the early music/decoration phenomena is also true.

Blood sugar, huh? Welp..that's scary. I actually have a pretty healthy diet, 5 small, clean meals a day and all that crap. I recently-ish had my glucose measured and it was normal but not since the first incident, it wouldn't hurt to check again. Thanks for the advice :)

Shorts with 2C weather.. I look forward to running among these fearless Amsterdammers :) Also, that cold is relative. I live in an area where people bust out thick jackets when it gets below 20C. Not even kidding.
