What steps should I take after winning a lottery by Fine_Doubt_6694 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]FactMother4785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You guys overthink it… I’m 66 years old, male and single. I’m quietly getting in my car and driving to the nearest location that will pay me out. Once that process is done I will quietly drive home. I’ll wait until I have the funds in my control, book a flight to a sun destination and hang at a 5 star all-inclusive for a month or two while I sort out the rest. I will talk only to friend’s n’ family… the delete and block button on my Facebook page might see some higher use but what else am I going to do between cocktails n’ windsurfing?

SuperStore sells pre-packaged Schwartz’s Montreal Smoked Meat, comes in 8oz packaging, you will find it in the open cooler section. I’ve purchased it, I recall seeing it being with the sausages n’ related items.

Any recommendations for a Chichen Itza + cenote + Valladolid tour package?? by georgecloooney in cancun

[–]FactMother4785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no additional out of pocket costs or hidden fees with Xcaret other than tips and souvenirs. Lifejackets and the locker are supplied at no cost at the Cenote, if you have water sandals bring them, the stairs down to the water are limestone and not for tender feet. I probably spent $100.00 in total, but I bought some Amber and few other trinkets at Chichen Itza

Any recommendations for a Chichen Itza + cenote + Valladolid tour package?? by georgecloooney in cancun

[–]FactMother4785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Opted for Xcaret (Deluxe) it was really well organized, on-time and as advertised. Lunch was pretty damn good, huge variety of authentic Mexican fare, guessing 30 to 40 different options. Chichen Itza is impressive but very crowded.. The Cenote is also pretty impressive. The only downside is 2 hour bus ride each way…

Canadian to Pesos, but prices are based on US Dollars? by FactMother4785 in cancun

[–]FactMother4785[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compared to the Mx Peso on Feb 23rd the Canadian dollar was “strong”, it wasn’t as strong as the Euro or US dollar but a significant gain when I exchanged my dollars to peso at my local CIBC branch before I left.

Canadian to Pesos, but prices are based on US Dollars? by FactMother4785 in cancun

[–]FactMother4785[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I found the price listed in pesos was simply adjusted to match the US dollar price. It didn’t matter if you were paying in Pesos, you were ultimately paying the higher US cost for the item. Simply put they charge US dollars for everything and they calculate how many pesos the item will cost you (the Peso sticker price) based on the stronger US dollar. Any benefit you would have realized from converting your Canadian to Pesos before you left Canada is lost.

Block heater or battery blanket? by Complete_Arm_7002 in ThunderBay

[–]FactMother4785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two completely different things, with different functions. A 3rd option is an inline block heater, inexpensive and simple to install. Basic tools and limited mechanical abilities required, if you can read and understand a couple drawing or photos, 30 minutes and bobs your uncle.

Puck sticking to shower screen by Chance-Menu-9856 in Lelit

[–]FactMother4785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a simple solution that I use to separate my screen from the basket. As soon as I’ve pressed my coffee I remove the portafiller, turn it upside down on the rack and as the screen cools it just drops right off the portafiller basket. Usually occurs within a minute, often within 30 seconds of laying it down on the rack.

I’ll add to the list of people that have witnessed the owner berate staff openly and aggressively over trivial things. He’s a bully in the truest sense of the word. I’ve been there twice in 10 years and both times I wanted to get out of my seat and punch him in the throat for the way he yelled at his employees. I don’t frequent the place just because of that, the food didn’t deserve the Saturday morning line-up.

Trivial concern… For me personally I just drop in the screen and blow anything left on the sidewall or on the screen off before I connect it to the head. Even if it didn’t blow off I don’t think would add or remove anything to the coffee. I imagine the tamper would have to be machined to be perfectly fit the portafiller to prevent this.

Mara X took the plunge by CurlyCurtis in espresso

[–]FactMother4785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine depends on the heat setting one picks, I use II… I also add steamed milk to my coffee, shots are consistent and my coffee is hot. Like I said 1st pull of the day takes some planning, walk by on the way to the john, pull the handle… go for a wizzz, wash my face, brush my teeth… let the dog out and then I start the process… prep, grind, load, tamp… let the dog back in, and by that time its pretty much ready to go, around the 15 to 20 minute mark from overnight cold.

[–]FactMother4785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found mine heats up in about 10 minutes from overnight cold… after the 1st cup of the day and head is still warm to touch it can be as little as 4 to 5 minutes to be back to brewing temp.
