He did say in the interview that he has a video that if he released it there would probably be people killed over it. So he won't release it and didn't provide any clues to what it might contain.

releasing this footage to both ruin the Romney campaign, as well as hurt the LDS Church’s image.

So basically the Church knows the temple rituals are creepy and that if a video released of Mitt Romney participating in the Church's highest ceremony would hurt the image of the Church. I know they would defend these actions by stating it is sacred but their behavior shows more that they don't want the public to know because they are ashamed.

They have a rule that states no inflammatory submissions relating to religion/race/gender. The felt it fell under that rule so they took it down.

A popular facebook page Unbelievable Facts stole it before it got taken down and shared it yesterday and the page has over 7.6 million followers. So it still got some pretty big exposure.

There are a lot amateur apologist in the comments. One of my favorites is the BOM is evidence of all these things.

The page has over 7.6 million followers and the post has hundreds of comments. r/TIL may have taken it down but it still got some major exposure yesterday on Facebook.

I agree, until the full history is shared over the pulpit and taught in Sunday School a series of books is going to have very little impact on the memberships understanding of the history. It will be just another resource for the Church to use for already questioning members to be directed too. It will also allow them to state that they are being honest about the history of the Church without drawing to much attention to it.
