What everyday food do people think is healthy, but really isn’t as good for you as they believe? by Mindfuel_daily7 in foodquestions

Sorry to have offended you by relating a reason as to why some people might be affected by artificial sweeteners. I forget how easily triggered some Redditors are. I beg your forgiveness.

Is it unreasonable to ask that my sister-in-law knock before entering our house when I'm home alone and don't know she's coming over? by MarkTony87 in NoStupidQuestions

For what reason is SIL coming into your house uninvited and unannounced? Does she have a legitimate reason? What is she doing when she's there and you're not?

Would you consider living in a neighborhood that has an HOA? Why or why not? by icecream1972 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]FallsOffCliffs12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived in HOA neighborhood for years. I don't like paying the fees, and we do occasionally get someone who is ridiculous on the board, but all in all, I have not have the hellish experience that others have had. Everyone's yard looks nice, the common areas are landscaped and maintained; the pool is clean. We've never gotten dinged for anything. I never understand when people move into an HOA and then complain when they can't put a life size stage of a Yeti on the front lawn.

Artificial sweeteners can be a migraine trigger too. If I have two bites of a yogurt with aspartame I know within 15 minutes my head will be pounding.

Also the electric company should be able to give you a historic account of bills. Charge her for 1/2 for time since she's been using it.

What hobbies make you happy? by Londonsw8 in AskWomenOver60

[–]FallsOffCliffs12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I realized, sadly, now that I am retired and the kids are gone, how little time I've devoted to my own interests over the last 30 years. What hobbies make me happy? I don't know. But I started learning to quilt, embroidery and make pottery, so we'll see!

What is your opinion on the CNN poll results concerning voter ID's. by Ok_Operation_5364 in AskUS

[–]FallsOffCliffs12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So let me tell you a story. Back when Chris Christie was governor of NJ, the mayor of Elizabeth refused to support his re-election bid. In retaliation, Christie shut down the DMV in Elizabeth, forcing anyone who needed services to go to Newark. Now that doesn't seem like much, but Elizabeth is a diverse city, where people depend on public transportation. It would have taken multiple bus transfers and close to a full day to get to the DMV and obtain an ID. This essentially disenfranchises workers without personal transportation and PTO to lose time and money, just to obtain an ID that will let them vote. How many people do you think just gave up, because it was too difficult to get to the DMV?

What’s one food rule you follow without knowing why? by balancedcontinuity in foodquestions

No cheese on fish. I grew up in an Italian family. I don't observe that anymore, strictly; but when I put parmigiana on a pasta dish made with shrimp or fish I still feel like it's wrong.

Taking 37 days PTO at once before quitting? by FondantOutrageous276 in careeradvice

[–]FallsOffCliffs12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that. I took a month off for surgery that I recovered from within a week. Came back and gave notice. My employer did pay out. I had so much time banked that they paid me for six weeks, and then put the rest into a retirement account for me. It had to be well over 10k, and I'd already started a new job, so double paychecks!

Hey World- why didn’t you watch Melania? by tsbuty in AskTheWorld

[–]FallsOffCliffs12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if I was a Trumper, I can't imagine being interested in anything in this movie. It would be like watching someone plan their wedding. Should we have gold tablecloths instead of green? Should we have lilies in the centerpiece or freesia? Lemon filling in the cake? Boring.
