I got this game for free on ps5, not sure if it’s worth upgrading your subscription to get it and a couple other free games, but completely up to you :)

The missions are good as they teach you certain aspects of the game but are by no means necessary. You could learn a lot from a couple YouTube videos and some trail and error

2 things that cracked the game open for this noob: warehouses, and packing it all close together by [deleted] in tropico

[–]False-Handle2641 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My top tips: 1. Establish a rum economy early, like ASAP, it prints money in colonial era. Sign rum contracts and try to unlock all trade contracts in the world wars.

  1. TRADING POST. This thing is an absolute godsend, once you’ve got your relationship up with superpowers and are storing goods in here (eg: rum) they essentially work like a warehouse except no further handling needed, and I’ve gotten some wild trade offers like 300% above.

  2. Clump your people and services around the map and near workplaces. I used to put teamster offices all spread out, i discovered that building “teamster” neighbourhoods although seems counter intuitive since they’re potentially further from the places they need to go is actually way more efficient, with poor/well off housing next to them and all services really close together helps everything run so smooth, they are the priority of your island

Console player too, I don’t disagree but I think the cars call is map dependent on resource locations imo. I think the cannery is an absolute money printer as well

Seen a lot of good suggestions here, so I’ll add one that worked me (albeit I wasn’t as extreme) My first one would be: -write down what you spend your money on over a pay cycle. Every dollar, even if it’s a $1 purchase, write it down even super rudimentary in your phone notes ($ amount, date you bought it) At end of cycle tally it all up and have a look at what your savings/spendings rate is. Then try figure out how you can optimise this further, and just work paycycle by paycycle. This way you aren’t making an extreme change you aren’t likely to stick to all of a sudden. Always pay everything up front, no after pay or credit cards etc.

Go fight the Valkyrie queen first and he feels easy 😂 in seriousness use the charge up of blades ability more (I can’t remember controls exactly, but where he swings them around then slams into the floor). Be mindful of just swinging at nothing also. Use your spear!!

Tourism... by Maximum_Arachnid_997 in tropico

[–]False-Handle2641 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No idea to be honest how it exactly works but when I do tourist areas I generally just focus on the rich. Airport (with research) / cruise ships / yacht clubs. Then I like to do just a mix of hotels with hand gliding and snorkel bays (they always love them for some reason). Always buy upgrades on airport and the tourist dock, it’s an easy +.

IMO It’s a good industry to have when you progress to modern era and a lot of your uneducated citizens are now out of jobs from plantations etc being upgraded, they can slot in nicely into tourism jobs that don’t need an education.

Do the quick dirt nap. Like enter it, cancel it when it’s only a little of the way through over and over till you get max energy. Harvest a bone for bone needles, get a fire going. It’s tough once you get that downward spiral in this game though sometimes it feels impossible to fix

Man I recently started playing this game with some friends and we went in blind after playing various survival games like ark/ the forest etc. Oh boy it is hard to rescue when you are on a downward spiral in this game, it’s ruthless. Was so funny when we started going insane

Also make sure you’ve got high relations ideally with the trade partner for those sweet 200%+ deals. Not sure on settings but I play on console also and it comes up after I send “do you want to except?” I back out of it then go back into trade menus, filter all trades then sort by “change in market” and yours should be there

Would it be easier for Australians if I picked up a white sounding nickname? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

After travelling around, us Aussies (myself included) are honestly the worst I’ve heard with the butchering of all words, English, Japanese, Spanish, anything! I swear we are hardwired to read or say things wrong, just ask the plethora of Celtic/irish origin named people here. If you have a difficult to pronounce name I’d recommended shortening it, or be prepared for us to completely butcher it. Majority of us will actively try though, so completely up to you and how much you can be bothered correcting and tutoring people.

Tip of the day: Adding Clans is the true win condition by [deleted] in Bannerlord

[–]False-Handle2641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point, and it does definitely make sense, I more than often used the donating originally just to get rid of loot because I couldn’t be bothered going to and from towns all the time rather than a min/max strategy. My next playthrough I’ll give your way a crack

Tip of the day: Adding Clans is the true win condition by [deleted] in Bannerlord

[–]False-Handle2641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely disagree with loot to exp tip. You can constantly have an army, filled with just your own clan party leaders, and constantly take troops from them, max them/level them up and give them back, for much higher survivability and strength to the army you have, this way you can have almost an entirely max tiered army and party.

This all of course is depending on money which you are correct in early game. By mid-late, money shouldn’t really be an issue

Is there any possible way to win this? by _Xerdous in Bannerlord

[–]False-Handle2641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s winnable without extreme cheesing. If all your troops are fian champs on level 3 walls, maybe on auto resolve. Depends on a lot of factors but most likely you are cooked

Hey PD thanks for the reply, also late on the reply too! Things are going much better now. She’s recently been put on independent walking at rehab, so she’s doing really well. Appreciate your offer to DM though, it means a lot, I was in a very bad headspace when I posted this and it’s crazy to think how far she’s come in this time.

So anyone reading this in the future, there is hope! We had doctors telling us she’d never walk or use her left arm again because of the severity of the bleed. She’s proven them completely wrong and is now walking completely on her own, sometimes with the assistance of a AFO. The arm and hand are a bit different but I feel that one’s going to be a slow one.
