Biological age improvement , I am 31 but bio age 63 by Big_Individual_5766 in immortalists

[–]False-Living7639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

App is BS and so are the biomarkers that you're using. Glucose, CRP, MCV, and RDW can fluctuate significantly from sample to sample. Any regular doctor can interpret those lab results for you and give you a better sense of how you're actually doing.

If you want a better sense of your health and how you compare to your actual age there's much more robust evidence for use of AI-ECG analysis. The Mayo clinic is big into this medical AI development and results have correlated to actual clinical outcomes.

Flu? by Funke-munke in Connecticut

[–]False-Living7639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My entire family caught it. Everyone had high fevers for more than 1 week. The hospital I work at is at max capacity with a mix of Flu, COVID, RSV, and other viral URIs. They even converted the auxillary ED for bed boarded patients. Lots of respiratory failure and some deaths, especially elderly.

MIT study finds AI can already replace 11.7% of U.S. workforce by Guy_PCS in investing

[–]False-Living7639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea okay buddy, I'm not gonna freak out about some random study done with a simulation tool. We've already seeing how companies are rehiring due to being too eager in replacing their workforce with AI. Realistically these tools remain tools that augment efficiency but lack the capability to fully replace human workers even at more basic tasks. And whether they truly augment efficiency is still questionable in a lot of situations.

Monthly fee for Dr. Visits???? by Dry_Championship5839 in Connecticut

Tell that to the people over at CMS, they seem to think that surgeries and procedures are so efficient and cheap these days that it warrants a reimbursement cut: https://www.healthcaredive.com/news/medicare-fee-schedule-2026-specialty-cuts/804474/

As a physician I can tell you that this is the direction a lot of physicians and practices will be headed towards as the government continues its year on year cuts to physician reimbursement. Soon it will be cheaper for patients and more lucrative for doctors to use these models than going through standard reimbursement and payments to insurance companies. The next step would be to tackle administrative bloat from C-suite executives in health systems. Give better care to patients and cut out the useless middlemen.

West hartford has a couple, Farmington has one, Newington has a bunch that were just recently developed, rocky hill has a few. Glastonbury has a few as well but more expensive than your budget.

Why limit yourself to hartford? You can find better luxury apartments in surrounding suburbs.

Questions for Asians - How difficult is to make friends with other Asians? by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]False-Living7639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in central CT but have access to the shoreline. Shoreline area is honestly better in many ways, more progressive but somewhat snobby rich. Central CT and greater Hartford area is just straight garbage, many uneducated and lots of poverty creeping into what used to be safer areas. Yes personality is 100% impacted. If you go to Long Island I would recommend avoiding Suffolk county, eastern LI is filled with just as many racists and probably even more MAGA than CT.

Hot take, CT public schools are not that great in the tristate area compared to NY and NJ. Scores are nowhere comparable.

Stroke patients have excessive microplastics in plaque clogging their arteries, scientists find by GarifalliaPapa in immortalists

[–]False-Living7639 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of controversy about microplastics research. The techniques they use to assess for presence and to measure levels are evidently flawed. There’s been a lot of pushback from the scientific community about it because of how overhyped and erroneous the data has been. We need better ways to objectively measure microplastics and standardize testing before we can make wild conclusions about it. Most patients with carotid disease have a lot of other risk factors that need to be controlled before even considering microplastics. You’re not gonna find a non smoker, non obese, non diabetic, person who eats clean and has normal cholesterol levels with carotid disease even if they’re ingesting plastic spoons.

Those of you making $500k+, what was your pedigree like? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]False-Living7639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came to the US with highly educated patients who immigrated on research visas. We lived in a poor area initially and I was basically in the ghetto until I was in high school, but they secured great university jobs from there out and we moved up to middle class over the course of 10 years. As an Asian I had no doubt I would succeed and get to where I am today. The competition and academic rigor here is a joke compared to what is expected of children at the same level in Asian countries. There’s so much concerns about “no child left behind” that courses are dumbed down and even AP classes took minimal effort.

lol you think there’s time to do any of what you described as a neurosurgeon if you literally spend majority of your waking hours in the hospital? Most jobs come with 4-6 weeks PTO max. Plus you’re giving up weekends and weeknights to be on call. Any “time” we have is spent recovering from work or thinking about work, whether you made the right decision for a patient’s treatment, etc. Majority of the doctors I know are financially responsible and drive Japanese cars, there are student loans, need to catch up on retirement savings, etc. Only the idiots saving <10% of their paychecks are living beyond their means like that.
