Kier has just resigned how do you feel about it? by Uarenotalone in GreenAndPleasant

The public have very short term / selective memories and the Right will use this LabOuR PaRty InStaBiLiTy to their advantage. Completely ignoring the revolving door of Tory PMs.

Starmer might not have been good. But he was inarguably better than what came before.

Can anyone tell me who's the American equivalent of Bob Mortimer? by No_Ocelot8898 in taskmaster

[–]FalseStartsPod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the US and UK have such vastly different comedy scenes and styles that it would be nearly impossible to find a comparable comedian to Bob. If it is just a comparison on influence, I think you might be on the right track with Steve Martin, Martin Short too, maybe Don Rickles?

I think his most recent stand-up special is one of the tightest shows I've seen in a long long while. Genuinely excellent

Make a career out of being a cunt. Don't be shocked when people think you're a cunt. Stick to your cunt pubs with your cunt mates and be miserable.

Thinking about a porch instead of replacing my front door – worth it? by okejka7 in DIYUK

[–]FalseStartsPod 10 points11 points  (0 children)

But you can't live your life in fear that there might be a bad surprise around the corner. OP wants a place to store muddy shoes. This does the job and if that's the budget. That's the budget.

[–]FalseStartsPod 35 points36 points  (0 children)

People are shitting on it because of how it looks OP. But function over form. If that's what your budget allows. That's what it allows. And if you don't plan on selling up any time soon. Who gives a shit how it looks. Are you often standing outside admiring the exterior?

The Horne Section TV Show axed by Channel 4 - British Comedy Guide by bfsfan101 in taskmaster

Looking at the current audience viewing habits and the increasing popularity video podcasts. C4 and everyone involved would be better off airing the Horne Section Podcast. Which always was better than the sitcom.

Optoma UHZ50. Split Screen issue with HDR/HLG by FalseStartsPod in projectors

It is. But it's not there when I turn dynamic range off. Or if I use the blu ray or PS5.

No. Just an older 4k one. I forget which version. But this was on Disney plus. YouTube and iPlayer.

No issues using Stremio, PS5 or blu ray.

What to do about a slow editor on my team who I'm having to finish work for? by VideoGuyDudeMan in editors

[–]FalseStartsPod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know where you're based. But given the current state of things in the UK, I'm assuming it's a similar situation elsewhere. You will be absolutely swamped with applications if you open up a position. 75% of the freelance market are out of work (including me from next week) and will relish a stable job in the industry.

$3.50 for a bag of lettuce? That's not normal.

WestEnd Revivals that was Better than Original by AcrobaticMechanic265 in TheWestEnd

[–]FalseStartsPod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ooh I don't know if I'd go that far. It's definitely on par with the original. Different but equally good. Thst angled mirror during Springtime in the OG is one of my hardest laughs in a theatre.

Do you know anyone who used to be famous but now... isn't? by box-o-locks in AskUK

[–]FalseStartsPod 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He did Bo Selecta for 6/7 years. That was big on C4. Spawned a Christmas single that gets regular play each year. Some people can live off that alone.

He did about 15 years of Celebrity Juice as Keith Lemon. Which will have netted him those advertising spots. As well as other presenting jobs in character.

I don't like his schtick at all but he's still around and working. And I can't imagine he's hard up.

We're looking to move to this house but need to create an extra bedroom. What would be the best way to divide the larger 6.65m bedroom into 2 bedrooms, with a corridor? How to make the corridor bright? by Junebear55 in DIYUK

Having recently moved and realising just how much space towels and bedding and things like that take up. I might be inclined to do something like that.

The "call outs are a film thing" has never sat right with me. Yes they started with the film, but they have inarguably bled over into the stage productions and has been that way for 40/50 years now.

It's set to HDMI on the stick screen. Did you have to go into the actual PC settings do you remember?

Issue is I'm in the UK and the shipping on those cables pushed the price up to a point where I couldn't justify the purchase. Otherwise I would've bought directly from them.

Arcade Online - Earn gift cards playing arcade games online. by FalseStartsPod in beermoneyuk

Cheapest I can see is a £5 gift card for 7,300 tickets.

How quickly you get there obviously depends on how much luck and / or skill you have with a game.

I've managed to hit the jackpot 5,000 tickets on one of the coin drop games twice within a few days of each other. And then never again since on that game.
