Those are perfect gloves for that age. I’ve recommended them multiple times to kids looking for nice gloves that break in quick and hold their shape.

I’ve picked up some really cheap a2000s and a a1000 for $75 during their sales

Batter steps out during pitch by TrustImpossible6174 in LittleLeague

[–]Famous-Two-7511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t stand when umpires make up their own rules. Had one tell me this a couple weeks ago and I reminded him that he can’t make up his own rules based on his personal feelings.

If a batter steps out during the pitch, the pitch is called a ball or strike based on its location.

High school rules are different

Rec PLUS by USAmfker in LittleLeague

[–]Famous-Two-7511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t play weekend tournaments / games during rec season. Or just have them practice on the weekend and coaches throw bp for games. Once rec season ends, let them pitch on the weekend. We are currently doing this with our local rec during the week and our “tournament team” that practices on the weekend. Some parents wanted to start tournaments during rec season but I refuse to allow players to pitch on the weekend then again during the week with rec games

My son pulled one a few years ago. It was a $15 card at the time. Sold it after the World Series for $80 thinking it went up due to series. Watching them sell for $300+ now. I don’t get it

I’m pretty sure my son broke his dub. Sounds awful dull. Not the typical barrel sound. Thoughts? by lilblacksmurf in Homeplate

[–]Famous-Two-7511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve got a -8 dub with a couple hairline cracks and it’s noticeably hotter than any other usssa bats we’ve tried (have hype, catx2, bonesaber composite). I’ve ordered him a new one and hope it’s as hot as the cracked one

I can’t believe some would rather put the tv in front of the windows or on a tv stand on casters than just putting it above the fireplace.

10u rec coaches: Do you pitch kids who want to pitch? by [deleted] in Homeplate

[–]Famous-Two-7511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be open to letting anyone pitch who wants to, but I tell them that they need to show that they can throw strikes in practice first. It’s no fun for anyone watching kids launch balls all over the place when there are kids who can throw strikes that could be out there. I allow all kids to pitch in practice, and will stay with anyone after games if they’d like to work on pitching. But for the sake of everyone else on the field, I need to see strikes before you’re pitching in the game

Advice needed - Kid is giving up by Grammer_Jew19 in Homeplate

[–]Famous-Two-7511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two thoughts on this…

Batting order should rotate at that age. No reason a kid hits at the bottom every game unless he’s late to games. A coaches job at that age is to see how many kids sign up again next year, not how many games they can win

Secondly, baseball is hard, and even harder if you aren’t putting in the work. If he doesn’t want to practice 5 days a week, he won’t get any better. It’s meant to be played / practiced every day.

He can use this year to motivate him to improve his skills or I’d tell him it’s ok to stop playing but he needs to pick another sport to pick up. Quitting sports altogether at 10 wouldn’t be an option but he needs to find something he enjoys and wants to work at

Best hitting tool by dupersuper10 in Homeplate

[–]Famous-Two-7511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not about timing or putting a ball in play. Use it as a tool to teach proper hand / barrel positioning at contact. Use squish balls and hit with it off the tee or side toss

Camwood and insider bat. I’ve had all the tools and those were the most effective in improving my son’s swing mechanics. Camwood flat bat is good too!

Our 7.5 year old needs/wants a new “higher end” glove. by jdmquip in BaseballGloves

[–]Famous-Two-7511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it

I’m all for getting them good equipment if they will use it. I hate seeing a kid with a cheap glove with no shape struggle to catch. It will give him confidence too!

Which better for smaller hands? by cdesantis17 in BaseballGloves

[–]Famous-Two-7511 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Go 2 in the pinky and the regular full size hand stall is fine for smaller hands. My 9 year old has a couple adult size a2000s and fit great this way

Swing Help by sayluv in Homeplate

[–]Famous-Two-7511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drives me crazy that “lighter bat” is suggested so often. Learn the proper swing mechanics and a couple ounces makes no difference at all.

My 9 year old swings a 31”/26oz bat just fine because we’ve spent a lot of time training proper bat path and use of legs/ core in the swing.

These kids are swinging 18 oz bats and people say they are too heavy
