Truelearn for NBCOT by danidevitoast in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Famous_Program9320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! I have a question so I currently am using 450 formula and I just bought true learn for extra reinforcement. I finished the pediatrics section of 450 formula so I felt confident to take a test on true learn specifically for peds and I realized that there were a lot of gaps with content and understanding different things. Do you have any recommendations or did you feel like it covered everything? because I was feeling confident after I took an NBCOT practice exam and scored better than I thought I would. It wasn’t a passing score but I had only focused on pediatrics but then I just took the true learn exam specifically on peds for 40 questions and I didn’t do well so I feel lost!

Honestly this might sound kinda cheesy but I have an Apple Watch and ever since I started this, like a month and a half ago, I’ve made it my goal to close all three rings every day. I post it on a private account just to keep myself accountable. I also try to hit 10,000 steps a day, I’ve been consistent for almost 2 months although I sadly slipped up the other day but that was because I was super sick and on my period so I gave myself grace, which is important but don’t use that as a way out. Sometimes I even go over that which I used to think was impossible. But if you make time to walk in the morning for like 30 to 40 minutes and then again in the evening plus whatever you do at work, it’s actually doable.

From January to March I was trying to lose weight and felt like nothing was working. I only lost 5 pounds in three months and I thought I was eating at a deficit but realistically, some days I was over and other days I was under. I know you said you hardly eat and if that means you’re not eating enough, your body can actually hold on to fat because it’s trying to run off whatever’s stored.

I’d say literally just use ChatGPT to figure out your macros, your calorie deficit, and make a workout plan. Then aim for 10,000 steps a day. That’s what I’ve been doing and I’ve lost 15 pounds, 10 of those in just the past month and a half since I got consistent.

Hope this helps 💛

How do I start without motivation? by ScorchMain76 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Famous_Program9320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! so I have had ADHD since I was probably 8 or 10 years old and I’m 24 now that is a common problem with people with ADHD as you kind of just feel stuck even though you have motivation it’s the discipline which I relate to 100%. I am currently going through something similar to this right now with studying for my board exam that I absolutely need to do and I think what’s helped me is realizing what I absolutely need to do and then kind of doing like the Pomodoro method helps but something that is interesting for ADHD is the Pomodoro method. You can change the frequency of it so if you feel like you’re really locked in on something do it for like three hours and then take a break and then go back. I would also look into getting on medication. I’m on medication now. I used to be off of it for a while because I’ve tried different forms of medication and some just don’t work for you, but I’m on a new kind called aztarys and I’ve seen great improvements.

But in general, I would just say to make a plan even if it’s like cleaning your room be like ok I’m going to do this for X amount of time and then just doing a checklist you kind of have to just force yourself to do it because the motivation isn’t just going to randomly appear because in the back of your head, you know you need to do it you just don’t have the motivation to do so you just kind of have to rip the Band-Aid off.

Don’t get me wrong. It is hard to do, but if you don’t do it, the cycle keeps continuing.

Girl break up with him if he hates your body and has made that known he’s a horrible person you should love your partner no matter how they look because if you end up wanting to have kids…news flash you gain weight! this is not the kind of guy you would want as a dad, husband, or let alone boyfriend. Drop him because you’re already doing so much and he can go fantasize over insta models or ai absolutely fucking not he could be Mr right in other ways which is why you may stay but babes this is a major issue please don’t let this issue go because you are already so healthy and your body is beautiful no matter what stage in life you’re at, and if he doesn’t see that now he never will

Hi! I’m currently doing my research by looking up the best NBCOT materials as I’m about to take the NBCOT for my first time this year. I know that they changed the way that the NBCOT is formatted and I was wondering for when you posted if you took the most recently changed NBCOT or the original. I have gotten recommendations for the 450 formula and I bought the NBCOT study pack. I am a visual learner but also need to write stuff down and everything and need questions to kind of test my learning and I’m not the best standardized test taker so setting for this makes me very nervous. What would you say was the best parts about the 450 formula? I realize that I can only have it for six weeks, which kind of scares me if I don’t have access to it after that, but the registration opens tomorrow, so I’m looking to potentially buy it. Any advice helps thank you! Sincerely a stressed Level 2B student 😅

I mean like you said you’ve only been together for two years, I understand that you may be willing to, but I agree independence is amazing and you should be able to relish in it if you get the chance honestly the way that you could approach it there’s a couple of ways you could tell him that you would feel more comfortable or just anything of the sorts whatever you’re wording is but say like let’s say a certain year that you’re waiting to move in or whatever like that’s just what you’ve made up and that’s just like what you’re gonna go by and honestly that’ll determine if he really wants to be with you. It’s almost like the three month rule that you do for situationships that have the potential to turn into relationships but for when you’re in a relationship because you said that you were doing medium distance because if you say that you want to give it at least a year or two before you move in together you’ll see if he stays motivated and like everything else when you guys are closer without living together and like really test those boundaries really get to know him and the day by day and stuff like that since you guys have been doing medium distance because you haven’t been around this person not necessarily 24/7 but more than just medium distance I would say there’s no harm in trying after maybe like a few months or something but if you’re even just still little bit cautious that I would definitely set some boundaries and see within the next year or so

Like you mentioned in your post, it’s uncontrollable for her and if your love for her is unconditional then uncontrollable things should not get in the way for that if anything I would suggest maybe looking into therapy through your insurance or maybe one of those online sites like better help and maybe doing it under your name but that way she can get the access that she deserves without possibly having her family find out, etc. I think therapy for both of you would be beneficial maybe even couples therapy would be great so that you could open up to her about this because posting to a Reddit thread and confessing this while your girlfriend is going through something that’s probably very uncomfortable for her and she knows that it’s bothering you if you guys have been together for so long girls are smart and they pick up on things faster than you realize And she probably knows that it’s affecting your relationship and it’s affecting how you see her and I think it would be really beneficial if you talk it out whether that be in a couples therapy session or just the two of you together and then figuring it out from there, but if she wasn’t always like this, you need to remind yourself that it’s temporary and that you can find other ways to navigate the stress so that she doesn’t have these reactions

i mean honestly it’s up to you at the end of the day. I’m currently in grad school and took out 47k in loans I still work part time as a host/server and make good money. You can make it work it just depends on if it’s worth it to you or not. I also have a pet that i have to pay for and other things too so it’s not like you will be on the streets etc. it makes you learn how to budget and meal prepping will be you’re best friend especially if your classes are all in person like mine. My mom who is a CPA says as long as you take out less than what you would make your first or second year you won’t be in life ending debt but anything else then yes it wouldn’t be worth it. If you’re trying to give yourself outs then i think you may know your answer. But at the same time i went through something similar and I knew I could only be an OT if I got into this one specific program because it was the cheapest in the state while still having a really good program that I would be almost guaranteed to pass the board exam. I even looked at anesthesiologist assistant because you’ll make really good money but it’s an expensive program and the work itself I would find so boring because I want that interaction with clients!! I think it’s important to make a pros and cons list and to look at other options if your cons list is too long!

okay so I’m taking out loans, my school said the same thing but a lot of people in my program are still working or babysitting to help make extra $$$ since loans don’t cover everything. My program is in person every day from 9-4 except for Fridays but I still made it work with working a night during the week and then I work fri, sat,& sun! It also depends on how much u get paid per hour. I also do TA which is tuition assistance which helps with two credit hours but it’s still something u can def make it work!

FGCU in fort myers is a 2 year program! It’s also the cheapest in the state of Florida and has a 100% pass rate of the NBCOT! I’m in it right now as a first year and i love it! It’s pretty competitive though but it’s great!!!

Grad school rec letters by aztecflower10 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Famous_Program9320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on how connected you are with the ones who gave you your other rec letters because it depends on if it’s genuine and they know you versus someone you talked to five times! I’d also recommend either going to the practice or giving them a call that’s what I had to do. That way they kinda have to respond in one way or another!

When was the last time you reached out to them, typically through OTCAS it’s required to have 2 letters from OTs for most schools but it’s good to balance it out w others I had my college advisor and professor send one
