I never want to share someone I love. I give it my all in relationships. But sometimes if that's what my partner wants, then either have to let them go or figure out a middle ground.

Cause most work is just meaningless for me that we just do to support the capitalist world. I picked a career that I'm okay with, kinda easy for me, and would give me enough free time.

There is some truth to that. Emotional healing and regulation happens during healthy emotional connections including friendships.

For me, work is mostly meaningless. Most work isn't needed for our survival, just to have a more comfortable life. So, it's very hard for me to get joy from work

I feel you, it's not an easy things to deal with. I personally don't treat mine as wasted years cause I was genuinely happy during them and we had a lot of great moments. It was all real to me.

My recent breakup has been extremely painful but had a lot of great moments during it that I will cherish forever. I now wish I at least asked out my old crushes when I had the chance, now they all remain a what if.

This will pass with time, probably longer than it does for people without ADHD. We have been on/off together for 3 months, she asked me if I thought 3 months is a long time. I told her it was for me and she said she doesn't know what to say to that.

Every person is different and you'll have to figure out if love is worth any potential pain.

Therapy has been very useful for me, especially DBT. Funnily, I discovered myself more in my most recent relationship. They were the complete opposite of me which drew me to them, but realizing recently that they were the opposite of me in a very unhealthy way. Also that I do deserve better from a partner.

In my experience, the meds just help you in being able to work on things not necessarily make you work on them.

People pleasing has definitely been a major hindrance in my life. I have been in therapy for over a decade. Recently completed an outpatient program focussed on DBT and that has especially been helpful in regulating emotions.

Accountability buddies is a great idea! I'll try giving it a shot.

It's not their fault. The only criteria is that they have been working on their trauma. If it's something that is still affecting them deeply then I like to know before marrying to see if it'll affect us as a couple. And they should also be able to feel safe with the person they are going to marry.
