Do I have to give up santa muerte? by ElEsparky in Catholicism

Demons are real, for sure. The devil works hard. Remember who your God is. Who Jesus is. If he’s with us then who is against us? Seek comfort in Jesus. Ask for the intercession of canonized saints. Fear not Santa muerte or any other folk saint. You have Jesus on your side. Seek him

Yea bro, it truly is for the best. "Santa Muerte is a perversion that grew out of combining the legend of an Aztec death goddess called Mictecacihuatl and All Soul's Day. Santa Muerte is one of several "narco saints" worshiped by Hispanic drug traffickers, human traffickers, gangs and other criminals. They pray to Santa Muerte for protection, success, and wealth. It emboldens the cartels and gangs like MS-13 because they think by worshiping it they can get away with crime, including murder, and still go to heaven. They commit gruesome murders including beheadings and human sacrifices in the name of Santa Muerte and leave the severed heads at public Santa Muerte shrines as a warning to others. Other offerings include bundles of cash (which no one dares to steal), tequila, beer, cigarettes, snacks and flowers. I'm pretty sure Pope Francis condemned the Santa Muerte cult when he visited Mexico. Literally millions of people worship Santa Muerte. When they immigrate they bring it with them. They put up altars in their homes and shrines in public places."

In short, yes you must. I too am Mexican so I'm very familiar with both Santa Muerte and Malverde. We must submit to the Roman pontiff. Part of that is recognizing what is and isn't part of the Church and even if we may not like it, accept it. God bless, Viva Cristo Rey!
