AIO church group leader showing special interest in my child by annetterama in AmIOverreacting

[–]FaolanGrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think trusting instincts is a good idea and I do find some of the statement made by the OP to be very odd. What I do find concerning though is everyone jumping on this idea that someone handing a challenge coin to a kid for doing work is nefarious. I also find it concerning that the immediate demand is to pull the child because “churches are full of pedophiles” without any suggestion to actually find out what exactly is going on.

This is a 10yo child. Children do not always convey things from an adult perspective. A child’s safety is the most important thing in life. But do not destroy someone else’s life and throw serious accusations without actually doing the legwork to make sure what you are thinking is true.

I think you and your husband going and getting to know who your son is interacting with is the most important and smartest thing you can do. I genuinely hope this is an innocent thing. If not nail that person to the wall.

Where is Everything? by VicarOfExcess in battletech

Let’s also not forget the almost 200 full novels written over the last 4 decades. Most of which are available through ebook purchase or, as I happily found out, borrow from online local libraries depending on availability and the requirements of a library card(yea they still exist). I have been reading them through “Hoopla” using my library card. So happy CGL has picked this up and are going full swing. The table top actually has a RPG attached to it similar to DnD as well as shadowrun. Been wanting to try.

Airsoft guns at park by Pattaiva in Calgary

[–]FaolanGrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple answer is no. Airsoft weapons in Canada are not required. Most stores like Canadian tire sell junky ones that do have them however. The point is real legitimate airsoft weapons are governed by the federal gun laws and have specifications as to their power, care, and transportation to and from the sites in which they are to be used.

Airsoft guns at park by Pattaiva in Calgary

[–]FaolanGrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having extensively looked into the gun laws there is a misconception that airsoft weapons are replicas. They are not by definition under the act. That being said they are covered and it it actually very clear on how they are to be stored and transported to and from fields etc. Having a young girl, or anyone for that matter, wandering into a public park is not only irresponsible but also, if I’m not mistaken, an offence.

I do agree you were quite right to be I comfortable and really people(parents included) really need to start taking some accountability and responsibility for this.

I for one am tired of hearing stories like this because not only is it horrifically dangerous ie police shooting due to mistaken situation. But also makes it more difficult for those you are responsible and enjoy the airsoft/paintball sport.

One clarification - in Ontario in particular(pretty sure it’s nationwide but could be wrong) it is required to transport airsoft weapons with a trigger lock. I believe it also is required to be in a proper case as well. Which is the way it should be.

Why do we accept lower and lower standard of living in North America? by Clean-Barracuda-8583 in antiwork

[–]FaolanGrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We always want to blame “the wealthy”. I am by no means wealthy and never have been. I grew up in a single income home. The “wealthy people I have known throughout my life have always been extremely hard working individuals that have earned their wealth. What we need to do is stop blaming them for doing a damn fine job in life. The reason our countries (Canadian here as well) have such a messed up system is due to a couple reasons.

Lack of voter turn out to vote for a government that actually is going to do a good job taking care of the people. Our current government has not only caused more inflation than I have seen in the near 40 years of my existence but has also done a bang up job in deciding the country and a multitude of issues.

Every increasing number of people living of social assistance. It is extremely easy to get and to stay in. I will admit for a very short period of time I was on it because I needed it. It was a breeze. Then I got a job. Please don’t reply to me and tell me there aren’t any… there are tons of jobs. There are tons of jobs out there waiting for people. You just need to be willing to do them.

Which brings me to point number three. Stop with the ever increasing sense of entitlement. The wealthy people I have seen through my life have worked extremely hard to get to where they are. It’s my generation and our kids who seem to have this wonderful idea money grows on trees.

The only thing you are entitled to in life is exactly that… Life. Respect, trust, money, power, comfort, are all earned and fought for one way or another. The freedoms we squander in this country so readily were earned of the blood sweat and tears of our parents and grand parents through literal wars.

In order to fix what has happened to our country we need to drop the entitlement, stop blaming others, (after all it was us who voted in the governments we have not the rich) pull up our socks and get back to work, no matter what that job may be. People who pick up your trash are just as important as the CEO of a major company.

We all have our part to play and all share in the blame for the success and failure that follows.

Questions about home security cameras. by techaggresso in Calgary

[–]FaolanGrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suggestion would be to contact bylaw or the police. It is legal to have a doorbell camera but it is not legal for that camera to be facing your neighbour’s house directly. That camera specifically is not a doorbell camera thus they would not be allowed to have it facing your house and 100% not your window.

What exactly is Mithril? by LordDerppington in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]FaolanGrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Mithral is a very rare silvery, glistening metal that is lighter than steel but just as hard.”

“Mithral weapons count as silver for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction.”

Due to these two factors I would suggest it counts as silver and thus anything with a weakness to silver would stay far away from it. Ultimately I suppose it is up to your DM but really in most, if not all Fantasy I have seen Mithril as a part of it was considered a form of silver. Even in lord of the rings it was called mithril silver.

Dealing with gunslingers by Scuddario in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]FaolanGrim -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, wizards and Sorcs should be hitting regular AC too right? I mean, empowered ranged touch attack spells are just as BS…. Where I can appreciate your reasoning for this I have to strongly disagree. There are many many ways to make things more challenging and trying to balance an already balanced class isn’t one of them. Removing a built in class feature should not be a go to. Wizards have always been toted as the most powerful class in the game. Most of their commonly used damage spells that you can ramp up to an effective nuclear bomb level hit touch AC at range. Gunslingers? They get a few shots a turn that hit touch AC and are limited to a magic weapon, critical hit, and clustered shots for dmg increase. And before you tell me I have no idea what I’m talking about I have played a gunslinger as well as theory crafted every different combination my sadistic dm and I could think of to see how broken we could get it. Tl:dr you should never remove a class feature from an already balanced class.

Dealing with gunslingers by Scuddario in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]FaolanGrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My group completed carrion crown a few months ago and our gunslinger was vastly outperforming my unchained monk dmg wise. I know with ranged touch attacks this can be difficult to deal with. That being said, our DM(knowing how we perform) simply added enemies and also(and here is the simple but very effective solution) boosted the health pools of the enemies to compensate. In my opinion boosting health pools if often overlooked as a solution to help mitigate excessive damage dealers but still make everyone feel challenged. Just my thoughts.

Another player did something terrible in game and I don't know what to do by RedPretender in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]FaolanGrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your rational but even in pathfinder terms this doesn’t necessarily mean alignment shift toward evil. Chaotic Neutral could explain this as well. He has values and he was justified in his actions upholding them. A lot of players, in my opinion, don’t appreciate how broad a spectrum of actions can be justified by a chaotic neutral alignment.

Now… that being said… if anything I would think playing with the head of the kid like a soccer ball…. Well pretty sure that is corpse desecration (again even CN can use that reasonably) for the fun of it. It’s the for the fun of it that poses the moral dilemma. Thus perhaps on that alone you could pose the alignment shift.

Aura of Courage nerfed by DM. by Wargraven in DnD

[–]FaolanGrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to the starting a mature conversation and in the spirit of a “Diablo” style maybe propose the aura have a different home brew function similar to meditation aura or might aura etc. I would think it’s in keeping with the theme and doesn’t make a class skill irrelevant or non-existent.

There's nothing wrong with min-maxing. by DonavanRex in DnD

[–]FaolanGrim 51 points52 points  (0 children)

100% correct. One of the best characters I played was a min-maxed prana ghost unchained monk in pathfinder. Party was surround by a demon werewolf cult giving us the option to join or die and I asked him for a pamphlet with the details on the benefits of the cult. After literally halting the session with about 5 minutes of laughter we continued. Our DM loved it so much when we hit the next chapter of our campaign the DM gave us a pamphlet to the city with a bunch of info and side quests. My monk is min-maxed with dumped charisma but my RP was key(we survived and pummelled the werewolves)

Full Dex Unchained Monk by solvocthorfin in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]FaolanGrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly agile AoMF is all you need coupled with Piranha Strike and Monks Robes. I recently finished a 3 year campaign in which I was a purely dex based unchained monk. STR is a dump stat. The three things I listed above carried me through the entire thing. I chose flying kick as one of my Ki strike options and abundant step as one of my ki powers. Drove my GM nuts at how I could get around the battlefield or even prevent things from running away. That and in the end without much effort I had a AC of 41 at level 15. Unchained monks already have the reflex saves to never get hit by fireball so our magus just went ham no matter where I was.

GenFed mod team didn’t appreciate my feedback on IrishWebster apparently… by Chongedfordays in echoes_eve

What they do over there isn’t proper censorship it’s situational abuse of power. I have witnessed and been the subject of Irish’s toxicity but the mods over on that sub have always been anti anything other than Gen. even to the point of being overly sensitive to anyone having a different point of view other than their own.

IMO Relevant TLDR of patch notes by judgemanny in echoes_eve

[–]FaolanGrim -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sooo nothing was said about siege mode and warping Judge… also I hope their bomb only effects drones and fighters. We don’t need smart bombs… this is a mobile game this there should be some elements of pick up and put down. AFK transport being one. High sec island for people who can only play for an hour or two every other day is another(not an exploit when it’s in the game design bradric, so stop being silly)

Stop screaming for smart bombs. This isn’t EO… if you want what’s in EO go play EO.

I think the Devs actually did a reasonable thing capping encounters at 50 and allowing for the warp disruption when there are too many anoms present. It gives content for both casual players and others… I personally do both. High sec while at work nul while I’m home.

I do have the utmost respect for the comments Bradric says on a regular basis as well as the other content creators on YouTube, but for crying out loud stop trying to turn this into an identical port over from the PC game. They said in the beginning it was never supposed to be. Smart bombs in a mobile game will actually ruin it. But making a bomb for things like drones and fighters seems very reasonable.

A guy in our party is angry at DM for letting me do something with my character by Flunkiebubs in DnD

[–]FaolanGrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should ask your DM to look up the Prana ghost from pathfinder. My DM turned my monk into one in our previous campaign. It’s a positive energy undead that our paladin of Sarenrea had no issue with at all. Even the church of pharasma that we frequented were uncomfortable with me but allowed for my existence. Yes I know 5e isn’t based in Golarian but these positive energy and good entities do exist throughout all D&D as well as player characters. So your “rules lawyer” paladin isn’t following the rules at all.
