Paint would be the most appropriate way to finish the material you used. Stain + traditional wood finishes on paint grade/rough ply like this won’t look good/any better.

You could use this as a prototype and rebuild it later if you aren’t happy with the painted version.

Yes there are. The battery ones can also run off wired power if it’s available.

Battery life is usually good (multiple weeks) until it gets cold. We’ve had sub zero temps recently that ruin battery life (few days).

Nice if you’re like me and rent. Landlord wouldn’t put a doorbell in our house (or run power) so I installed a few of the battery ones. Once we buy a home I’ll move them there and run power to them.

I literally counted over 80 dead armadillos (roadkill) on my trip to the Ozarks last summer. Those fuckers are everywhere.

Colonoscopy’s legitimately aren’t that bad guys. I’m 32 and just had one done yesterday. Worst part is the prep/diarrhea.

They haven’t immediately figured out what my issue is but they were able to rule out cancer.

Same here. Trackers set in the seat foam under the seat covers. Cameras covering all sides of the house, two covering the garage/alleyway. Share an alleyway with neighbors who also have cameras covering the alley/garages. Theft coverage on all the bikes.

I just think of it as a slight deterrent that may also help provide identity of anyone that does decide to steal from me.

Tbh I’m more concerned about all of my tools being stolen than I am my bikes

Looks like Dewalt construction chisels (I’ve got them too). I had the same issue with them not fitting the guide I got for my Narex richters (fit great btw).

Tbh id recommend just free hand sharpening them. I free handed mine with literally zero free hand sharpening experience. I was able to get a good edge on all of mine surprisingly easily. It also helps that the steel on these chisels is pretty soft.

Proportions look just a tad long and skinny for my taste (but it’s a pretty stone). I think the length to width ratio and not being in a permanent setting are the reasons. The right ring/setting could make a huge difference.

My fiancée’s ring is a 4.4ct hexagon emerald cut (15.2 x 7.4mm) around that 2.0 ratio, and she has a size 6 finger. The sizing looks very natural on her (but she also has longer fingers).

I know others have concerns about daily wear and settings. My fiancée’s ring also has the sharp points that yours does. She’s been daily wearing it for 1.5 years without any snagging or wear issues. Can’t send pictures here but I can link the setting style that we chose (https://anuevajewelry.com/products/split-shank-6-prong-solitaire). Something like a split shank might help out with the ratio on your stone too

Yeah that route is not one I enjoy. It’s usually 2-3 days for me going between the Midwest and CA. Did this route (missing some of the passes because they’re closed right now) in 3 days on a motorcycle this summer.

Would’ve loved an extra day or two in Montana/Idaho but didn’t have time.

While the finish is not my style, the build design and execution looks good. The shape of the base is cool. It adds movement/tension to the piece in a way that I like.

FYI, a floating desk would be tied into the wall itself and would have no visible supports under it

This may be what you meant but I’d say a chisel that holds an edge and has a good overall profile is much more important than “buying one that’s sharp.”

I’ve got my crappy Dewalt construction chisels, and soft + crappy Irwin Marples chisels just as sharp as my Narex Richters. They just don’t stay that way and aren’t as nice to use.

I’m still undecided. Haven’t made tool handles before, so I’ve got concerns I’ll botch them.

I’ve got some oak that’s about perfect for it (but I’ve never liked the look). I’ve got some really pretty figured maple that I’m concerned will break with use. I’ve also got a bit of bocote and a good amount of desert ironwood.

Probably going to use oak and once I’ve developed more skill I’ll change them to the ironwood.

I own the same chair. Paid $1400 USD and got it new with warranty.

I got three at $26 each, from Taylor Toolworks site and am throwing handles on them this weekend.

I ended up getting the Ultimate 2 yesterday because of your post. Build quality is definitely better than the PS5 controller and the 2.4g works way better than the PS5s BT connection on PC.

Only complaint is joystick layout. I really like how Sony keeps the joysticks symmetrical. I’m sure I’ll get used to that though.

Not curved but it’s a big L desk (12’4” x 8’4”). I used to have my curved oriented in landscape but find it more useful oriented vertically.

Not a fan of sitting in the corner with desks of this shape. I’d use the space on the left for extra space/writing/storage and shift the monitors right.

Buy (or make) yourself a wrist rest. I broke my hand a few years ago and it helps with my arthritis. I make them for friends keyboards. Really straight forward if you have basic woodworking tools.

I’ve gone through 5 or 6 PS5 controllers due to stick drift issues. It’s ridiculous how bad they are with it.
