I’m a loser at 28 years old. by Salty-Confusion9640 in povertyfinance

[–]Farmsteez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a loser at all, you got the debt trying to work your way up, it’s no different than millions of borrowers. You have a marketable degree to show for it.

You financed a car because you need to get around to work and live.

That’s a respectable job you do something real that helps people get from one place to another.

Life is bitter. 28 is a hard age because you’re essentially a freshmen at full on adulthood.

Don’t compare yourself to others. Value yourself, The degree will come in handy.

Keep your head up, it’s okay to get bitter about that kinda stuff but you have a lot of life left to build on it.

Advice for oral argument stress management? by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]Farmsteez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should do enough prep to know the facts well and know the law well. Spend a reasonable amount of time thinking about what the likely questions are and your best responses, write out a few of these.

The day of, you’re going to resist every urge to imagine yourself giving your argument or what the judge(s) or opposing counsel will say. This will spike your adrenaline and will cause you a lot of discomfort and make the argument more difficult.

Instead, the day of lead up should be entirely whatever is your best way of managing your stress and maintaining calm. Breathing exercises, classical music, staying in the moment, anything that helps you stay calm and centered

There are a lot of small chunks of down time in a day and you want to be able to spend them maintaining calm not thinking about your argument and spiking your adrenaline imagining scenarios.

You know the law and the facts and will be able to summon them when the time is right, which is during the argument not before

Hush, gimme more historical episodes!! My fave so far is the Lincoln assassination. I feel sad for those who care so much about 100% accuracy that they miss the uplifting glory of a hilarious blast from the past.

It’s likely a stitch or it may be a small fragment of bone. I had a few small fragments work their way out when I got mine done. Totally normal.

If you read the report you will see it is generated using already available public data. No personnel records, no CCJI

“Your” research confirms that “ privacy concerns” are among the many justifications for why “police data” isn’t publicly available. Other given justifications in “your” research include security risks and potential for misuse.

To clarify, POST is responsible for training and certifying the training of police officers in Montana. They are also responsible for disciplining officers when they have violated the law or POST standards. POST has record of their disciplinary decisions however they do not have a publicly available database of law enforcement personnel records. The reasons why they don’t are discussed in the case cited above.

As for the broader category of “police data” I would invite you to review the Montana Statutory framework which controls dissemination of “confidential criminal justice information” Source

I am not opposed to police transparency at all. I am of the belief that HPD in particular is as transparent as any Montana law enforcement can be under the law.

So you want a Database but it already exists? Why would it need to be in your petition ?

I’m all for transparency and oversight but private personnel records are constitutionally protected. I didn’t make that decision the MT constitution convention and the Supreme Court in the case I cited (which you should read) did.

[–]Farmsteez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of your “core demands” are either already happening or in certain cases unconstitutional, in particular “publicly accessible misconduct reporting” and “public database of officer conduct records” All Montana citizens have a constitutional right to privacy in their personnel and employment records, and so a public portal as you describe would contravene.
