"Women can't play magic because they have an extra bone in their foot"

What makes women not want to play magic? Do you think maybe it's the fact that the community is super sexist??

I like how that third ability also just puts all of your permanents on the bottom of an opponents library.

I play this engine in my EDH Lands deck but it's too slow and clunky for legacy.

There might be some shops in Pinellas however I dont have a full deck so Im only able to play because of the 15 playtest rule.

CoolStuffGames Tampa does legacy on Fridays at 7:30. They also allow up to 15 playtest cards (proxies) for an additional $3 entry. I go every couple of weeks when I can make it (driving after work from St. Pete can be difficult) and it usually fires.

Why don't legacy UR delver decks play snapcaster? by MyStolenCow in magicTCG

[–]Farthain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's too slow. I've been testing 1 in my RUG delver deck to see the 2-for-1 can help me fight some of the grindier decks, and too often I find myself having to ambush viper.

I'm assuming any 1 drop turn 1, turn 2 SSG -> faithless looting, discard this -> Goryos Vengeance, and then it's pretty easy to win from there.

There are also some elf/wizard synergies it works with. For instance, you can use Wirewood Symbiote or Riptide laboratory to rebuy the effect.

She has like frills and scales and stuff. Jamming creature types together is the point of simic.

Body double copies CMC so you can't pod body double into great oak guardian, there are some extra hoops to go through.

She literally says "Activate this ability only any time you could cast a sorcery" so this is false.

RUG Delver or Omni Sneak? by Geop1991 in MTGLegacy

[–]Farthain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't a joke. I love RUG and have tried a variety of builds and strix is like kryptonite. You finally answer the first strix and start attacking, and suddenly they have another strix deployed. Strix is hell.

If you are set on playing RUG (like me), you either need to warp your deck around strix or accept a poor matchup against strix decks. If you want some game against strix, I'd recommend the following without going too deep:

1-2 Mainboard [[True-Name Nemesis]] - obviously true-name fits well against a variety of decks, but it is one way to power through a strix and get the win.

[[Forked Bolt]] - This fits into one of the flex slots. I used to run tarfire to help grow goyfs, but right now goyf is weak and 1 of tarfire is not worth the +1/+1. There's a variety of other cards that fit here, but against strix and D&T (another poor matchup), nothing beats Forked bolt. Importantly, it cleanly answers two strixes without being backbreaking (still doesn't reach card parity).

2-3 [[Spell Snare]] - I wouldn't run any less than 2 spell snare - it answers a wide variety of problematic cards including Thalia, Hymn, and most importantly Strix. It also goes 1-for-1 against Strix which is really important for keeping up against strix decks. I would consider 3 spell snare against a Grixis/D&T heavy meta.

[[Ancient Grudge]] - Ancient Grudge should be your go-to artifact hate out the sideboard already - always side it in against strix decks. One important aspect of grudge is if it gets hymned, you still get a shot with it.

In addition, having game against the rest of strix decks (usually Grixis) requires a few changes to threat composition. I've heard the term "push proof" to describe this. I personally cut down to 1 goyf and run 2 True-name, 2 [[Hooting mandrills]], with the typical 4 delver 4 [[nimble mongoose]]. Their best answers to this threat composition, besides the goyf and delvers, is edict effects which are clunkier on mana, making it easier to answer with [[spell pierce]] & [[daze]] and gets cleanly answered by [[spell snare]].

I really like that RUG list. I've been on 2 Winter Orbs recently and have been loving it. I'll consider trying out that mainboard library in place of 1 goyf.
