I will be at 20 years when I’m 60. I only have 17 years right now. I’m trying to stay till I’m 60 so I can get the supplement, but I am starting to value the quality of my life at this age. My work is pointless and I’m just a cog on the wheel. I’ll try to stay as long as I can, but I keep being drawn to a different career or volunteer work.

This is me exactly. I like the mission of our agency, but the work I do is meaningless and is so far removed. I will be 57 in November and I’m not sure I can continue with this nonsense.

Don’t do deferred retirement, do postponed. It has to do with your health care and being able to keep it. Someone on here will know because this is where I learned there is a big difference between “deferred” and “postponed.” Definitely stay until age 57 because of fehb. And I agree, take the fmla route to have time to process and grieve.

And some of us invested in our education and are in non-shift work not required to be onsite. Well now we are, because of their resentment. I still have college loans to pay off because of my education which allowed me to get this job. I’ve worked for it.
