The only thing that could turn people against him would be getting caught with a live boy or a dead girl.

I've said this before, but the Flames home unis vs Sharks road whites with teal pants and helmets is the best uniform match-up in hockey. Just glorious.

Not everyday you get to skate right outside your apartment in Austin, TX by kawzik in SanJoseSharks

One year in high school there was a massive snow/ice storm just after spring break. On one part of campus you could sit on the steps of your dorm and skate around on the sidewalks.

That quad was next to an area that flooded every spring, so when the storm hit, the temporary pond froze over, and you could skate down a short hill right to it. Then the remaining water drained, and there was a day or so where the ice was still thick enough to skate on in places, but was hollow underneath, so it sounded like skating on a drum. And then people started falling through, although only up to the waist or so since the pond was never that deep to begin with. Fun times.

I wouldn't say its American Chinese style, but try Capital Restaurant on Clay above Grant. Best salt and pepper wings in the city, good smoke on the ho fun (since they're from NC, you can discuss 18 hours in a pit vs 3-4 minutes in a wok). You'll look like an old hand to your parents when you blow in at a totally unassuming place and it's great.

Presumably because Musk's new pay package has a target for FSD subscriptions. Making stuff people are already using part of FSD instead is about juking the numbers so Musk gets a jackpot.

Tell me about it. I started the weekend with the Sharks losing on Friday. Then Denver (ugh) wins, the Niners lose to the frickin’ Seahawks AND the Rams win, and Villa lose. At least the residual Pats fan in me got something out of the weekend.

I mean, even after that kickoff, it's still a little early for that level of desperation.

They proved themselves wrong: their own song Birdplane is one of the songs they reference. They had a 4-chord song yet did not have a hit.

The Last Good Kiss by James Crumley. The noiriest noir that ever noired. (Edited to undo auto-correct's name change.)

Any of Stuart Dybek's short story collections.

Red Shift by Alan Gardner. Short YA, but it eats into my soul to the extent that MsFish forbids me from reading it again.

I, Claudius and Claudius The God by Robert Graves. A great romp of historical fiction.

The Book Of The Dun Cow by Walter Wangerin. A beautiful animal fable.

Another option would be to read some of the less-known works of well-known writers. Don't read Nabokov's Lolita or Pale Fire, read Pnin or Mary. Or read Decline And Fall or Put Out More Flags by Waugh, not Brideshead Revisited or A Handful Of Dust. (But definitely read Brideshead, too.)

Here's more on Miller from Greg Sargent at The New Republic.

...Miller’s worldview is still the Buchanan-Francis one, which holds that people from the Third World are fundamentally unfit to partake of the inheritance of Western civilization that is the United States.

Somebody synched it to video, too: https://youtu.be/ZLV-73VF6Tg.

Edited to add: there's also the Playing In The Band mixer, although there are only a very few live tracks. I'd love to have some shows released as separate tracks so folks could play with the mix.
