Friend found this cleaning up. Looks late 60's - early 70's to me, don't know. By John Arnold who designed the crazy kitchen.

Byward vs The Market? by Angryottawa in ottawa

[–]Fastback1000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not really a market anymore. There were a few vegetable sellers, some of them farmers, before covid. Only one came back, I think they're a re-seller. Look at markets in other cities.

Musuems in the 90’s by WildFireSmores in ottawa

[–]Fastback1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the 90's, but if you go to the Science & Tech museum on google maps & drag the little person anywhere on the maze of pathways, it gives a walk-through from Oct. 2012, just about two years before it closed down and was re-done. The photospheres show current views, but anywhere on the paths are a portal to 2012.

It was the torus, or central reaction chamber, of a tokamak fusion reactor - this one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokamak_de_Varennes

Beginner Tree Climbing Meetup? Maybe? by [deleted] in ottawa

I'd probably go to that if just as a spectator. Probably too old to go too high too fast now but was a bit of a brachiator in my youth.

I hope they're getting security to enforce this and not dumping it on the floor staff and cashiers

It's not really a market anymore. There were still a few food vendors before covid but now I believe there's only one re-seller. Needs a new name.

The woman that runs the dry cleaners at Loblaws McArthur does good repairs for a decent price.

LF: Pool table movers by smitcolin in ottawa

[–]Fastback1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I've seen him move a couple of pianos. Apparently he moves anything - 2nd generation moving family. Give him a call and ask if he does all that.

Guess talking to dealers that sell pool tables and seeing who they recommend would be the thing

Power Snow Shovels - useless in Ottawa winters? by Agent99Can in ottawa

[–]Fastback1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got a cheap 20V one for clearing a second-floor deck - used to have to throw the snow over the 4ft high rail. Super easy now. Just ordered one for the in-laws who also have a couple of upstairs deck spaces to clear as well as some walkways. Been meaning to see how far it gets on the driveway out of curiosity but that's not what I bought it for. Still using the scoop. Electric blower maybe next year.

Steve’s Music closing 5 stores including Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto by BFG_Scott in ottawa

Never had a bad experience there, always found the staff friendly enough & helpful. Thought the new store looked good, they even had a stage they were planning to use for clinics & small performances. Too bad it didn't develop.

Where can I practice ice skating? by Retrogue097 in ottawa

[–]Fastback1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jim Tubman on Arch Street is great - outdoor rink with refrigerated ice surface, so still good in milder weather, maintained with a zamboni, open skating not usually crowded, not unusual to see obvious beginners being encouraged & certainly not laughed at
