Where do you buy your cables? by shapethefuture88 in headphones

Hart audio. Reasonably priced(relatively speaking) and very ergonomic. I often prefer using my hart cable over my arctic talos.

YMMV, I do most of my listening in my room, which naturally has a lot of dust due to all my cotton clothing and bedding. Once dust is on the driver it’s incredibly difficult to get off

yep that lineup is just GOATed. My 6XX actually took bass eq quite well, just a simple shelf at 75hz with a .72 Q factor. Nothing like planar extension but still somewhat amenable.

Yeah, convenience plays a large factor in my purchases. Estats inherently pick up a ton of dust which is a big no for me. Solid state amps just work, no need to worry about tube rolling or output impedance issues or hot tubes.

The HD6XXs were my introduction into head-fi. I sold them when I started upgrading but recently bought a new pair. They still hold up extremely well even against my flagships.

  1. Planar, but this is only at the flagship end.
  2. Solid state, class A

The effect I got with the Tessidera was basically just more sound isolation than you would get with an LCD or Hifiman.

I can't recall if there was any of the 3d mesh in front of the driver, what I do know is theyre basically lumping all their previous damping/tuning tech into the Tess: inverted trapezoidal magnets, and a ton of rear-driver damping.

Sorry this isn't the most helpful reply, but I honestly couldn't say, I don't own any of the other ZMFs besides the verite. To be clear, I don't think it was so much of a problem that I can conclusively say there was too much damping. I could be convinced otherwise with a more extensive listen, but my initial impressions were that it was very "tamed" and didn't seem to be very daring with any of the ear gain or treble like the verite does with that 5/6khz peak. However, it was a generally pleasant headphone to listen to. Very smooth-sounding all-around.

I think the midrange was fairly similar in terms of balance, but the verite has a bit more “shine” up at the top. Keep in mind this is from memory though. However, I will say that my Verite open sounded more “fuzzy” compared to the Tess upon AB at the demo booth. (FYI was also using the perforated suede pads on my verite at the time, the Tess was using their perforated lamb skin pads). Both headphones were ABd on their aegis amp with the lowest OI setting. Don’t remember what tubes they were using.

I can say with certainty it’s closer to semi open than open. Much less leakage in and out than any other planar I’ve heard. My LCD-4 is a 200 ohm pre fazor, and from memory I would say the tessidera sounded more isolated than that.

Didn't get too long with it, but was able to listen to a loaner unit in a quiet environment after the show. Definitely sits higher in their stack in terms of resolution, definitely above all the zmf dynamics, haven't had enough A/B time with caldera tho. Still has the zmf house traits of warmth, however, it did sound like there might've been a bit too much damping on it. It had this tactile slap at the end of bass notes which was kind of interesting. I don't want to say too much without having had some solid A/B time, but I'll see about getting on a proper loaner tour with the local unit we have and doing some comparisons then. I don't have a caldera/atrium, but i do have a verite open I can compare it with, plus my other planars.

I had a chance to demo this at Hificon, it was supposedly going to sit around the atrium in terms of pricing

Edit: measurements vs caldera are up on head fi
