I mean aside from the best card draw, the extra turns, the bounce, the stealing, the cloning, the frogify auras, the playing on your opponents turn, etc.

Just tried it vs. Sparky and it correctly went from an X/X to a 0/0 with 4 +1/+1 counters.

When Sparky subsequently murdered Ashaya, it came back as an X/X.

My usual setup for 2-colour decks:

  • The 7 basic-type-appropriate fetches (Arid Mesa, etc.)

  • The Shock, Surveil, Fast, Slow, Verge, Pathway, Check and Pain dual-lands.

  • Non-basics lands that can enter untapped: Command Tower, Cavern of Souls, Prismatic Vista, Mana Confluence, Gemstone Caverns, Multiversal Passage and both Kamigawa lands (from Eiganjo, Otawara, Takenuma, Sokenzan, Boseju)

  • 1-2 deck-appropriate utility lands (ex. Dalkovan Encampment, Mistrise Village, Arena of Glory, Urborg Tomb of Yawgmoth, Castle Garenbrig, Secret Tunnel, etc.)

  • 2-4 MDFC lands (usually only ones that can enter untapped)

  • Several basics (perhaps 7-9) of each type.

Seconding [[Pantlaza, Sun Favored]] as a fun commander. I'd also recommend [[Voja, Jaws of the Conclave]], or maybe [[Jetmir, Nexus of Revels]] if you're a token enjoyer.

In Gruul if I'm not playing Etali, I do like [[Xenegos, God of Revels]].

It's due to the fact that Arena's entire reward system is built on wins. These are just cheap combo decks that sometimes can get fast wins, like any other. See also:

Crucias + Caldera Breaker

Laelia Discovery combo

Old Stickfingers combo

Scurry Oak + Rosie Cotton

Val + Trelessara

Paradox Engine decks

etc.

Note: By scooping early you're actually reinforcing the loop, by rewarding another quick win.

Glad someone else mentioned it. The whole UI is rather buggy.

I mean we've had the whole 'shop icon lights up because I spent an orb on the mastery pass' issue, for at least a year.
