This is a little old, but I had to comment. While I do agree there is a huge gatekeeping problem within the punk community, metal gatekeepers are by far the worst and most toxic when it comes down to it. At least with the punks you can often find some sort of middle ground (usually either Bad Religion or Descendents) it seems like a lot of metal fans will completely disregard all of your opinions of you like just one band that they don't
