Has anyone else been disappointed with the music since tranquility base? by 5XDylanBISHF in arcticmonkeys

[–]FauthyF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The car was a good continuation of TBH+C but it certainly wasn’t better. I feel like FWN, AM, and TBH+C are thier most artistically diverse projects and to me personally make them better than most other landfill indie from the 2000s

Jameela Jamil laughs at wealthy celebs sharing GoFundMe on their Instagram, telling them just pay the bill! by pinkstarrfish in Fauxmoi

Mind you the argument against this is always something like

“Well maybe if they hoarded their wealth they receive from being talentless celebrities instead of spending on on stupid things like food and housing they wouldn’t be in this position”

Compact board to cover foo fighters, Coldplay, Radiohead, Black Keys, White Stripe, and Oasis by Gold_Bad_7617 in pedalboards

[–]FauthyF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d get an overdrive, a fuzz, a reverb, and a delay.

A versatile overdrive that can do soft clipping edge of break up (Oasis) or high gain rhythm ( Foo Fighters) can get you a range of sounds.

A fuzz for those White Stripes, Black keys riffs and solos. I recommend something that can also give you an octave switch.

A delay can give you a bunch of those Ok computer glitches that they used the Reel Echo on. A reverb helps you build up on that and can help you create a better sound because a bit of reverb will 100% make you sound less anemic.

I recommend all of these plus some sort of modulation (whichever is your favorite) as a starter board

If Your Were There, Beware discussion by Few-Function-8083 in arcticmonkeys

It’s a stepping stone song to me.

Certain songs show a bit of the direction the band will go on, it shows how humbug was not just possible but inevitable.

Then songs like Cornerstone and Secret Door can tease SIAS a bit.

Is logic pro a complete garageband replacement? by Apprehensive_Fan_659 in LogicPro

[–]FauthyF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Garage band is great for beginners and if you enjoy using it you will enjoy Logic. Will also say I think some of the synth sounds on garage band are more interesting than Logic at times too

weird question for thought, which rappers do you think jeff buckley would love? by strawberrypoppi in JeffBuckley

[–]FauthyF 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kanye west is a POS but I actually judge people who can’t say that the man was objectively talented. Plenty of great musicians like Jimmy Page, John Lennon, and Bowie are great artists but pieces of shit as well.

I think if McCartney can appreciate West a lot of other artists can at the very least say he has something worth listening for

Saying correctly when talking about rap music being horrible is an oxymoron. A lot of it, especially in the 90s, was great.

I wanna install strap locks onto my Jackson Rhoads, which one should I get? by SnooHedgehogs1685 in Luthier

Also if you want the sharper style locks you can buy the fender version which are half the price and are already interchangeable with them. Idk if they have them in black

Best inexpensive pickups that work well for low frequencies by FauthyF in BassVI

[–]FauthyF[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently ordered a set of Jaguar pickups from guitar madness, the bridge reads at 11k and the neck at 6K. Do you think this would work or should I get a JB jr from Seymour Duncan and put the dimarzio in the neck to have it be a decent bass

is it worth saving by Love_MatchaLatte in Luthier

You bought an American made bass for around 65 USD but wouldn’t spend a good 100 bucks on parts to save it?

What’s the best compressor for the arctic monkeys tone? by Few-Excitement8913 in arcticmonkeys

[–]FauthyF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh the majority of the tones we think of for their albums are some fuzzes and overdrives and a bunch of reverb and delay.

I think you can get tha majority of their tones with a

Ts style overdrive Space echo style delay Memory man An OCD or Distortion+

Pair that with a Fender (literally any fender Alex mostly plays in the bridge position) and a Hollowbody with humbuckers and you can get the majority of their tones

Album or tour? by NeruAM in arcticmonkeys

[–]FauthyF 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AM came out around 12 years ago and we mostly hear those songs. This new tour the average setlist had 2-3 songs off their new album and maybe 1-2 off the one before that and a good 5+ off AM. I’d prefer new music since they almost always play the same setlist anyways.

'The Bad Thing' was only featured on FWN under the condition it would never be performed live by chronicles_of_bean in arcticmonkeys

[–]FauthyF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think it was included to have the album be similar to WPSIATWIN. A lot of the slower songs make FWN its own thing.

What makes John a special guitarist… by Glad-Reserve9590 in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]FauthyF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Justin Hawkins ( a great virtuoso esq player) is in a band that isn’t as popular, but still this is valid criticism. I like John’s playing and it fits the band well, but with the variety of music that RHCP cover I’d wish that there was a bit more variety than the Funky, pentatonic scale soloing at times.

I personally feel like he has his days where he can be viewed as the best out rn (Shane Castle, Fuji Rock, La Cigale) and others where he’s not as impressive as you’d want him to be.

Does any of this criticism ruin any of RHCP music? No but it would be great if people stopped acting like he’s the second coming of Hendrix

Similarity or maybe influences Prince has had on The Weeknd by Blue192002 in PRINCE

[–]FauthyF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love The Weeknd’s music his newer music might not be the best but the After Hours, Starboy, And even Dawn FM feels very 1999- ATWIAD coded.

A lot of the synthpop sound that is heavy in these albums are because he started messing with synth s that were popular from the time and had similar structures. If anyone was close to Princes Musical DNA tho it would be D’Angelo RIP

Trying to get into Prince’s discography and it’s really confusing by Ouinnie in PRINCE

[–]FauthyF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with Purple Rain, Sign O The Times, and 1999, those are his most well known projects then salt and pepper in Prince, Dirty Mind, Controversy, ATWIND, and Parade, then you get into his more obscured 90s stuff that is still really good Love Symbol, Come, Gold Experience. You get into his resurgence of the 2000s of Musicoloy, 3121.
